Post a poll with a thread...

When you start a thread, there are two submit thread buttons, just above the last, and a bit below the first, there is a post a poll with this thread option, check the box and choose how many poll options to post.

Attach a picture with a thread...

When you hit reply or created a new thread, write your message, then scroll down, they'll be the first set of buttons (Submit Reply/Thread and Preview Post/Thread). Below those buttons is a "Manage Attachments" button, click that. Browse your computer for the image and hit upload, then close and hit Submit Reply/Thread.

Its the title isn't it? People think its a lesson on how to position their SEXXORZ balls..

Groups that have less than 3 members only have a week or two before dissolving.

So just before they dissolve, get two noobs to join for a day.

This will reset the timeout system and allow you to have a group which really only has one person in it.

You don't have to get any alternate accounts and you still get the group discount on land.

Someone starts a thread out of the goodness of their heart to try and help people out and some jerk posts a bunch of stuff about how to grief people and cheat.

How do people like you live with themselves?

First thing is "Don't Quote The Post You Don't Like." Quoting the post make's it impossible for the poster to get rid of it completely. If you didn't like the post why bump it and repeat it?

Explain to the poster in a convincing manner that they should delete their post. Then they will delete it because they agree they should.

If that doesn't work use the triangle icon to report the post to the moderator. If the moderator agrees they can move it, delete parts of it, or remove the whole thing. It's their choice what to do about it.

You can help prevent posts you don't like from being made in the first place by making replies and starting new posts that are productive, interesting, clever, witty, insightful, or in some other way meritorious. Respond only to good posts, riffing off them, augmentiing them, instead of arguing with posts you don't like.

How to open stuff in boxes

After right-clicking on the object and detaching it from your head, look in the inventory for the item.

Drag it from your inventory to the ground (make sure that there is no box icon at the top of the screen, which denotes a no-build area).

Right-click and select "Open". Select all the contents of the object and drag to your inventory. It's probably a good idea to create a folder for the contents of the box so you know where to find it.

To create a folder, right click in your Inventory, and select "Create > New Folder." Name it whatever you like by right clicking on the new folder and choosing "Rename."

No more box-head!

It is advisable to NOT SHOOT people anonymously, because it's just not a nice thing to do.

Sometimes you will find that some of the avatars that you should see around you don't show up. Your see their chat but don't see them. You see their attachments but not their avatar bodies. What do you do?

Right click your avatar and select Groups from the pie menu.

Then select a different group or None and click Activate.

If you don't want to actually change your group you can now select the same one you had to start with and select Activate again.

Close the dialog box.

The unseen avatars will now appear.

Can you please tell me how not to get boooted of after 30 mins of inactivity coz I see other that have been away for an hour and still there where they are standing at?

There are several hundred different otions.

There is an undo function for building.

To make it work, you have to have the chat bar closed.

Then you can undo something like a move or a size change with control Z, and redo it with control Y.

I don't think it works perfectly but it is much better than nothing.

When using this mode it might be useful to use the Prefrerences, Chat tab, Chat Options, Close chat after hitting return checkbox; check that box so the chat bar closes automatically when you press enter.

Then when you need to say something while you click the chat button, type it and press enter, and the chat bar closes again, thus allowing the undo and redo to work again.

kidding , I can't help you with your balls.

You can also just attach it to your head and open the box.
Works great for non-rez areas.

Just for the record, I think this it the WEIRDEST reproducable bug / work-around I've ever seen.

How do stars get added to these posts?

I'm haveing a blank brain moment or on to much oxygen which is the case most the time.. but could someone tell me how do you do quotes in a post? TYTY

I used to be able to do this with the chat bar open, and it worked fine. Now it only works so long as I didn't change the focus to the chat bar or another window, or even another prim. Now I can only undo actions back to the focus change.

Is that what you mean by "you have to have the chat bar closed"?

(hmmm feature request, make the chat bar into just another window instead of a magic special case)

The easiest way is to just hit the "Quote" button that's at the bottom right-hand side of each post.

Related, try scrolling all the way down to the bottom of the page and look at the bottom left-hand side. You'll see something call "Posting Rules". Expand the box if needed. You should see something like:



"vB code", "Smilies", and "[IMG]" are links that take you to pages that show you how to do other neat things with your posts.

For those who want to do fancy posting, if you go to your UserCP, and then go the Edit Options, way down at the very bottom there should be an option to let you use a full WYSIWYG What You See Is What You Get editor.

Lots of people might really like this. Sadly it doesn't work on the Opera browser and LL doesn't care.

But it does work on Firefox and that other browser, umm, I think it's called Internet Explorer.

Note: This may be too much for your wimpy browser to handle.

Click on USER CP link at top of page, click Edit Options on the lefthand menu, scroll ALL THE WAY DOWN, then hit up the Message Editor Interface and select 'Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG"

While you're here, I'd also recommend setting your Time Zone. The board operates on correct GMT, so you shouldn't have problems setting it properly.
