From: Karsten Rutledge I'm also in the progress of rebuilding the Mahulu infohub at the base of the infamous Mt. G'al. --> Click here for infamy. <-- (Bring back the sacrifices! Come on, who's with me?) A long work in progress, but feel free to drop by and critique. Due to the history, I'm kind of working in a somewhat dark tribal theme with a few twists. If nothing else, you have to stop by and click the Mini-Me Mt. G'al at the infohub and watch the eruption. Much thanks to Salazar Jack for pointing me at some of the archives regarding Mt. G'al. The new infohub should incorporate the history when it's done as well as any relevant newbie information I can get my hands on, and whatever else randomly occurs to me. I was rather surprised how many newbies end up at the infohubs for some reason. While I've been working there I get frequent brand spanking new spit-polished newbies landing in the hub looking for the hippos. Is there a hippo finding contest somewhere? When I get the time I'll probably try and dress up a Hippo Shaman. Hrmmm... I wonder if this post from Lucifer Baphomet can also help shed some light on the history surrounding Mt. G'al? I remember him telling me that he had found evidence of cannibalism on land he now owns. I'll see if I can find where that was...

Way to omuch Land for sale already !!!

ditto title
Land Glut - stop making land - sell off what is out there.
I know I know LL makes $ from selling land - so I guess that is the bottom line.
I finally had to just release my last 512 that had been for sale for months - (in a nice area, by water and nature preserve) because it would not sell and I was tired of waiting to tier down. (Yes I had lowered and lowered the price, and yes WH grabbed it when it went public) It is still for sale for the ppl who got it from WH too.
So, I feel there is too much land for sale out there.

I'm going to let this thread float freely in a few minutes, and thank everyone who contributed. While the future is a big place, clearly, the community has spoken--the Infohub parcels will not be auctioned off, and for whatever reasons... will be left in the eye-in-hands of the Lindens. The poll, which has gelled to a mellow pace, remains open for some more hours in case you'd like to still get your opinion in, and post about it too. As has been discussed earlier, several Residents stepped up to actively contribute and build Infohubs, and, in a unique experiment with Linden Lab--and first done in Nova Albion--the land is owned by Governor Linden but set to a Resident group so it can be built on, as a communal bridge. Some of these Infohubs are done, others are approaching completion, and others will need more time--and what about time? All in good time. We've got enough Infohubs for now, although certainly, any actions for further contributions I'm welcome to hear about... please let me know, IM me if it's short and sweet or email me (torley@lindenlab.com) if it's elaborate explaining! There will be further news and announcements about these projects, celebrating them, as each is a unique opportunity for the Resis involve to shape what they believe to be a valuable community space in the evergrowing grid of Second Life. There'll also be more Linden info content added in the future, nothing too intrusive, and meant to integrate into the environs. As a flagship, Kyrah Abattoir's previously-mentioned networked freebie giver is currently being explored. Thank you graciously all for your ideas--and more.

From: Sinatra Cartier As a person that owns telehub land in five different sims I would like the opportunity to consolidate all these fairly small lots into fewer but larger lots before LL auctions off the land. Here is what I mean:
There is land that used to have a telehub on it. For this example let's call it "telehub land". And there is land whose property line shares a border or borders with telehub land. For this example let's call it "adjoining land"
Before you auction off "telehub land" allow the owners of "adjoining land" to use a portion of the telehub land for consolidation of the adjoining land they own in several sims.
The size of this portion would be determined by what percentage of telehub land perimeter the adjoining land shares.
If my property surrounds 15% of the perimiter of a sims telehub land then I could use 15% percent of the telehub land adjacent to me to consolidate my adjoining land from two, three, four or more sims into fewer sims.
What I end up with is larger lots in less sims. Linden Lab benefits because as I empty out of some sims (consolidating into another) the size of the lots LL can auction could be larger.
I benefit because I can create more thematically on my fewer but larger lots.
I am not getting more land, I am only trading location of some of my "adjoining land" for some of LL's "telehub land" So that I may have larger, less fractured, lots with higher prim usage. Quoting myself (above) one more time for the day when LL decides to auction off the telehub land. Please, before you do, allow those of us who own adjoining land in multiple sims to consolidate that land into fewer but larger lots using the telehub land. Then - sell away! Thanks

yes, it's a late comment...

First, I'm glad to see the existing lands remain public. I hope that we see a lot of nice resident-developed parkland, public meeting places, and other appropriate developments.
Second, perhaps a few such places should be added to some of the NEW sims as well. As things stand, the old land areas have these public areas -- in some cases, perhaps more than are really needed -- whereas new parts of the map have none at all. New residents might enjoy having places to gather too.
As for why I didn't get involved in the infohub redevelopment process... when the call went out, I was still pretty new here. I hadn't even managed to build a small house I was happy with yet; developing a major public project was way beyond my ability. I'm sure that many other people were in the same position; interested in the outcome, but simply not in possession of the necessary experience to make it happen.

So very very very glad the Alleni infohub land in front of my plot is not being auctioned off. Why? It was a nice little park-like area in front of my build. If someone bought it there is a 99% chance that I would not be happy with whatever was suddenly blocking my road access. As it stands, the texture of the Linden land has been turned from grass to ocean-floor (?). I would like a little park there again. I'm sure I'm not alone here. Here is the main reason not to sell the public areas (besides that it adds to the beauty of the sim and the residents' satisfaction with their neighborhoods): They keep the value of the surrounding land up. Strangely enough, just like real life.

The city sims of Grignano, Sistiana, etc. successfully converted their telehub area (and surrounding extra Linden land) into a beautiful urban park/brick walkway. Salazar Jack = the man.

The 'ocean floor' look is caused when the high resolution ground texture is not loaded from the asset server, leaving the lower resolution texture loaded. Unfortunately around the Atoll it's that god-awful nuclear wasteland look. As for returning it to a park: I'd recommend contacting Torley -- she may be willing to allow you to build your own park as has been done at many infohubs. Just please as someone who travels through Alleni on occasion no gigantic particle spewing phalluses, mmmkay?
