I've given it a few days and I have to say that MY experience, which is all I can really judge by, is NO.
Textures are loading slowly, to the point where flying has become hazardrous due to hitting unrezed buildings - to the point where I appear to be flying through an empty sim, no buildings, AVs, trees, roads, just bare ground. Stop and wait a few minutes and it all slowly appears.
I occasionally get intermittent texture strobing - when they do eventually load.
Bandwidth usage seems much higher than before, not my problem (though it's not helping texture loading), I have unlimited bandwidth, but I doubt LL do...
Worst of all is the drop in fps.
Back in April, when the update was supposed to be coming, before the renumbering process, I was sufficently worried by Preview to take some carefuly positioned and oriented standing fps readings in 1.9 with screenshots to back my figures up.
Yesterday I repeated the process - in my sim where I control all content and nothing has been added since the original changes.
Here are the results: Location 1 - Pre update 42 fps, post update 17 Location 2 - Pre update 27.5 fps, post update 14 Location 3 - Pre update 30 fps, post update 18.5 Location 4 - Pre update 31.5 fps, post update 18
And this is most worrying: Inside my store - Pre update 30 fps, post update 17
Both sets of figures taken with ALL the goodies on (obviously 'disable far clip' and 'local lighting' OFF pre update!) and a 200m draw (no drop draw in 1.9)
And, before the techies run all over me, this on a newly built PC (at the begining of April) so a clean XP SP2, which has only ever had the latest official nVidia drivers installed, so no 'old driver components' issues. And it's an AMD 4000+ with 2gb of Low latency RAM and a 7900 GTX 512. Not completely state of the art, but pretty powerful, and I WAS getting appropriate performance immediately prior to 1.10. I've also got another PC, exactly the same spec except an AMD FX57, and it's suffering the same issues though I generally don't use it for SL, so it's not specific to a single PC either.
Now the offical LL word was that the update was ' to improve the Second Life experience'...
REALLY? So pray tell, how do slow loading textures, strobing textures and a massive fps drop 'improve the Second Life experience'?
Hence my statement - No, 1.10 is most definitely not any good.
Why is it that SL 'updates' consistently degrade system performance? I'm really fed up with it.

Huh, its been better for me. I'm loving flexiprims and the new lighting - for the first time since 2003, I have lighting enabled. Frame rate seems to be a bit better for me than v1.9 as well. Upgrading to the latest drivers (I went from version 68 to 84 nVidia Forceware) was a big frame rate increase.
Regards,
-Flip

Everything has been going pretty smoothly for me too. I had to download the latest nvidia drivers but after that it was poifect. Sad to hear some people are having trouble though, because the new features are really pretty neat.

Flexiprims are on for me because its less laggy than filtering the flexi out. The local lighting I adore. Nightbrightness down to zero and force midnight with a floating lantern over my head.

1.10 is the best update in quite awhile. Enabran approves. Love the lighting engine.

agreed my framrates have improved.
but i notice that it does take a hit when i'm flying (worse than pre 1.10.... once i get somewhere, or walk, it's better than before.

I've noticed an improvement in my framerate as well in this newest patch. Heck, right now I'm in a crouded club and it is running very smooth! Well, a little choppy, but plenty playable

Well despite flexi prims, I've still not found a girl that will treat me right. I found that the girls in 1.7 were much nicer to me.

20-40% improvement in framerate in general here. Very noticeable.

For me 1.10 seems to be working as bad as SL has always worked... at least since 1.7 I think I got used to SL working badly. Isn't that sad?

this update rocks. only two things i dont like about it. they took out the shaders which greatly improved my framerate and they have done didly squat with the linux client. come on LL. i want to remove this substandard OS from my machine. the only thing holding me back is LL's failure to work on the linux client.

Framerates have improved for me considerably in 1.10.
The update also increased my texture loading considerably. The subsequent patch broke it again.
Sometimes the only way I can get a texture to load is right click edit to force it ... and I shouldn't have to keep doing that.

OK, out-voted by the LL appreciation society... Not that I doubt any of you that claim that all is sweetness and light post 1.10 - good for you. However, having invested heavily - over £1000/US$2000 in a new high end system specificaly for SL shortly before the update... Having had it work really well immediately prior to the update... And now having it suffer a 50% performance drop after the update... What would YOU do now? (And I'm not talking about 'stand with one foot in a bucket of treacle, singing 'Rule Britania' while waving a dead chicken over your PC' type techie 'solutions' either. It worked brilliantly prior to the update, it's crippled after the update - the problem IS the update)

Have you considered asking people that know PC stuff instead of voodoo?
just wondering.

Ah, that's where I've been going wrong... But seriously though, some of the well meaning replies are close to voodoo - and most make unwaranted assumptions about my hardware. The fact is, before the grid went down for update it flew, after update it was crippled. Prior to update on the main grid it was brilliant, in preview it exhibited the problems I now get in 1.10. So well meaning technical solutions proposed by people who aren't familiar with my system are of no use whatsoever - the problem is that the 'update' doesn't properly support my hardware which 1.9 previously did. OK, it works for some, maybe the majority - but what about those of us it doesn't work for? I don't recall a warning when I signed up that having high end hardware would result in poor performance after an update...

well, if it helps... you're not alone, my inworld partner is having serius issues logging in, i can relate to you being upset/depressed/etc. Sorry it doesn't work, hopefully things will be ok with tomorrow's patch. Cheers?

And its not me being LL partial.
But, as Enabran Templar said (God bless his capitalist pig soul) plus a bit more, 1.10 has got to be the best thing that happened to SL in a while...
other than virtual bacon.

Cheers? IF it is, I'll be announcing it, have no fear. And actually, 1.10 for me anyway, wasn't decisive, ever since 1.7, despite two system updates, my performance has degraded gradually, update by update. Something I'm not alone in. However, 1.10 is the worst, for me at any rate, since 1.7, and bearing in mind that SL has slowly pushed me to a high end system, while slowly decreasing my performance, I'm seriously wondering - where do I go from here? Until SL supports multi-core cpus, 64bit cpus, and 1gb Graphics systems I can't upgrade my system any further. I don't think I'm asking too much, I want a minimum of 25fps, 200 draw and all the goodies (which I had even in 1.9). Dammit - back in 1.6X I had 25fps, 256 draw and all the goodies (INCLUDING Local Lighting) and that was two system hardware upgrades ago! If that's not possible with current hardware technology (as supported by SL) what the hell are LL doing offering these options?
