From: Aimee Weber kung-fu fighting to rap music. Wouldn't Torley Linden show up for that?

I thought the next one was called Third Life!
Or what about Final Life 2: The Furries Within?

a thought - if the first real release of SL was called Second life, then was the beta called Halflife?

Doesn't a sequel require the first to be finished?

From: MaryLee Marshall Doubling the draw distance in SL 2 will mean 4 times the gray loading textures and 4 times the Impeach Bush signs. Surely you mean eight times ?

From: Sylfie Minogue Is there going to be a Second Life 2? No. Also, the Easter Bunny was ran over by a car last month. And I hear Santa has Alzheimer's.

There very well may be a SL2 (not to confuse with SL 2.0) simply to deal with the obsolete technology involved with SL. Suppose that Havok 5 hasn't been implemented because it simply breaks everything in SL, every object is unlinked perhaps or video card technology changes significantly and engines like Havok 1 won't work. In that case, what do you do? You start fresh with SL 2 while leaving SL 1 up and running for a while until it becomes a ghost town, life time members get to wander an empty land since they aren't transfered to SL2 (convienent way to offload deadwood lifetime accounts) with those who can't update their computers.
This is, of course, simply the way things could be, not how they will be.

From: Jesrad Seraph Surely you mean eight times ? I did actually mean 4, I was thinking about the change in area at the time I wrote that. Later I did realize that I might have needed to say 8 because wwe can see in all three dimensions. However, I don't look down at objects because there aren't any. And I don't look up in the sky much when I am standing on the ground in SL. I am basically looking parallel to the land's surface. further, the vertical dimension in Second Life is not fully implemented. One can build only so high. So, if you are near the upper limits of buildability, looking somewhat upward, and the draw distance is doubled, you won't see the cube of ratio of change in draw distance more objects, there aren't any more objects above the build limits. I was really hoping no one would notice. It's nice to know someone was paying attention.

Development Update February 2, 2016
02-06-2006 08:37
__THIS WEEK__
We had a bunch of fixes scheduled for this week's release, but because of some conflicts with wetware connection, were able to implement only about half of them. These following issues were addressed with the 12.8.2(24) release:
* Holographic projection is now on by default * Flexable Prims no longer detach due to excess manipulations * XHTML on a prim pop-up blocker now works more effectively * Sponsered Ads now replace loading grey textures * Teledildonics is now only legal if parties in BOTH locations have legal prostitution. * Dual Processors now supported again but Quads will be needed for rending hair.
The fix for Show Updates promised last week has now shipped. Additionally, we improved the interface for our Computer to Brain interface setting to hopefully resolve the last of the issues introduced in 11.8.2(6).
The most important fix in this week's release was the speedy resolution to the bug introduced in 11.8.2(7) where you could no longer use the skin tabs to control elastisity.
__UPCOMING FIXES__
We are working on fixes for the following issues for the next release of Second Life:
* Avatar finger movement looks wrong when using uploaded animations * You should only be able to zoom in on a HUD with proper VR gloves * Linked prim sometimes disappears after an object update (llSetJiggle, llSetFirmness) in pectorally attached prims.
As I've said before, it's always possible that we will NOT be able to fix these issues in the next release. However, after resolving our internal issue with the latest project, they can once again take center stage!
__KNOWN ISSUES__
The following is a list of known issues:
* llPwnJoo doesn't allways Pwn as it should. * Havok 3 is buggy when more than 40 vehciles are in a sim with over 200 people.

Yeah, they're going to build Second Life 2, with Blackjack, and Hookers. In fact forget Second Life 2.
