Gor, being a place where Downtime is not known, Downtime being a weak thing of weak earth men who have not yet learned the correct modality of things and thus still have Downtime as a result of their weakness, naturally distained the weak earth man, Phillip of Linden for his Downtime, as Downtime is unknown on Gor, as it should be with all things of Gor.

I don't know if the Goreans would be tech inclined enough to handle a downtime. The Priest Techs, themselves being bugs, would know how to deal with it.

I can, however, guarantee they'd find a slave to pin it on and sit around patting one another on the back for a job well done in excommunicating her from the community.

I'm not sure exactly how the Goreans would respond to downtime at first, but I'm sure it'd almost certainly end with some slave girls being whipped.

I looked upon the slaves that knelt before me, as slaves should do here on Gor where the correct modal;ity of all things is known, unlike on Erath where men are weak and women know not their place and the joys of being a slave to a true man, as they do on Gor where all things are as they are supposed to be as each per there modality.
I looked upon them, these slave women, Kelly of Linden and Jeska of Linden as they knelt and I pondered these things as I looked upon them , them kneeling as I looked on as should be with women and masters of Gor. I looked upon them, kneeling and bowed and I frowned, for I was displeased. Frowning on Gor being more than the simple, weak frowning of men on Earth that know not of true frowning. "Why, girl do we have this 'downtime' that was brought from Earth by the weak man, Phillip of Linden?" I said. I said this andfrowned and as I frowned they bowed further, feeling my displeasure as only women who have been trained in the ways of Gor can know a master's displeasure, both sensing it and feeling it within as it is in the modality of a slave to feel in their very core the displeasure of their master muchly. "This 'downtime' should not have been allowed to accompany the weak earth man, Phillip of Linden to Gor. Why has this been allowed, girl. Why have you allowed Phllip of Linden to bring this weak 'downtime' among us?" I said, displeased. One of the slaves, the girl, Jeska of Linden spoke, speaking being the means by which she addressed me, as is the way slaves address their master on Gor. She spoke and there was fear in her voice, and she kept her head bowed as she knelt. Kneeling being the manner in which all slaves of Gor went before their masters since the time of the coming of the Priest-Kings who brought to Gor the muchly neede d modalities that makes Gor strong and has left Earth men weak and their women not knowing the pleasures of serving a true man of Gor as is the way of proper things, each as in their proper modality. On Gor it is so, and no slave may go before her master except in kneeling, for it is the proper way of slaves. "Master, " she said. "I knew not of this 'downtime' of the earth man, Phillip of Linden," she said. "I knew it not and it was unknown to me, me being now trained in the ways of Gor as a woman should be, " she said. I frowned, because I was displeased, and she cringed and bowed her head further, for she felt my displeasure, as is the way of slaves and masters here on Gor where all things know their proper place. "Bring this Phllip of Linden before me, that I may look upon his weakness and chastize him for this 'downtime'", I said. To BE CONTINUED... _____________________

And to the comment about Gor and technically, that is why I find Gor on SL to be a blasphemious joke. Well I find Gor to be a joke all the way around, people who play Gorean fall into the same catagory as the D&D freaks but like 100000000 times more annoying. |

"Get a damn editor!" she cried, and brought the massive tome down hard on my head. I was stunned at the force of it. Had it been an Earth book it would have been small and light and weak, and I would not have been stunned. But this was a Gor book, filled with many, many words and pages that made its philosophy utterly and repeatedly clear over and over and over again so that anyone and everyone would understand exactly what its philosophy was no matter what preconceptions they might have had because of their negative Earth conditioning and modalities, and so it was extra large and thick and strong and therefore, following the modalities of books, quite heavy. Gay, Bejeweled, Nazi Bikers of Gor http://books.adultfanfiction.net/story.php?no=544176437 Deserves a Pulitzer, in this girl's worthless opinion. (quick, someone post after me, my stupid comments are the last on all the threads!) _____________________

Having traipsed around the Gor sims as a STLKR, unnoticed by the locals (who don't, apparently, have names, minimap, or prox scanners). I have to admire the quality of most of their builds, but the quotes and while slave thing don't fit well with me.
Granted, if I had 'girls' of my own, they'd be standing, armed, and handling my light work. |

John Norman's leaden, repeptitive prose is so bad, it gives me new-found appreciation for the refreshing sparkly effervescence of Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett. Or Harry Harrison. Yeh, The Stainless Steel Rat rocks.
