I'm still puzzled why anyone would want the position... But congrats to those selected. Looking at the list I'd say we were blessed by LL's selection.

to calm a few fears
01-25-2006 23:48
i understand the concern over possible abuse of moderation powers, but i would like to help reassure everyone that we have not been given free reign to do as we please and will be held accountable for our actions. From: someone Any disciplinary problems within the forum moderation community will be dealt with swiftly and any misuse of moderation abilities will result in a loss of volunteer status and possible disciplinary actions. sure, a ResMod could abuse his/her powers, but according to the cost specified above.. i would hope that nobody will expose themselves to such disciplinary actions just for some small personal gain/vendetta/etc.. so far, it seems we are seeing a positive initial reaction by those chosen. those who don't believe they are a proper choice are backing out, those who don't believe they can devote enough of their time to be effective are also declining.. then there are those of us forging ahead in this new frontier and hope to do a fair and decent job of it. i would also like to encourage everyone to comment on whatever may transpire in the coming weeks in a constructive manner. critiquing the jobs being done in a fair manner and letting us know where we may be straying or where we may be able to do a better job. i hope, along with the rest of you, that this turns out well and will help to bolster a more positive and encouraging set of forums. at the same time, i hope that the level of freedom that we're all used to remains unhindered.. and in a best case scenario, even strengthened. in closing, i'd like to congratulate all those chosen and wish everyone luck with the ensuing headaches. - oh, and David, they were considering Resident Moderation back in 2004. so this program has been a long time in the making and i'm assuming there has been a list in the making all along.. from what i've read though, it's something that has been more wholly contructed by The Community Team. (with that being said, i wouldn't consider myself FIC, so.. no worries there.)

Oy vey. My initial reaction when I got the notecard was, "Holy shit, why did they choose me?" And now it's more like, "Holy crap. They chose ME." I was only 10% serious in my post to volunteer, and ... sheesh, I was a snarky lil bastard back in the day. For me it's just another two weeks doing what I normally do, which's staying away from dramah and posting in threads that I find interesting/funny. And that's basically what they encouraged. But yes, upon receiving the news, I laughed, I cried, I peed. I did.

I've read everything I can that got referenced, thought about it for awhile, and eventually accepted. And I don't think anyone who knows me here would be surprised about that. I understand the concerns Hiro and others bring up. Cybin answers that better than I ever could on this subject, so I'll just add my own small notes - My take is simple, I'm tied more to Uru than SL, hands down. Its given me an interesting view on this amazing place, and the differences in forum attitude are like night and day as well. Actually, was a severe bit of culture shock coming here, in more ways than one (and thank GOD for my prior interaction in Notebook Forums' Off-topic or I'd have been completely off-kilter on arrival)... I've had my rocky periods, like anyone else would, but I've done my darndest to stay as polite and forthright as I can. Even on my weblog, and even on *gasp* IRC. Tis just my nature. Anyway, enough rambles. Have fun y'all, :link:

I was nominated many times - it gives me great confidence in LL to NOT see my name on that list.
As for who got it - congrats to those that wanted the position.
Will it help?
I don't care - I'm waiting on baited breath to see the brainsnap on Prok's blog!
Woot I predict a very long diatribe brought to you by the letters F , I , and C
Siggy.

Did you have to go and spoil a nice thread by dropping the p-bomb?

Aimee, did you ever know that you're my hero? You're everything I wish I could be; I could fly higher than an eagle; you are the purple wings above my wind. (Siggy and Leck, don't even think about "wind" jokes; this is serious stuph). Holey Krist! /barf

From: Aimee Weber I would also like to take this moment to congratulate Introvert Petunia who I have officially selected to be my significant other!!! <3 <3 *hugs Introvert*
Now, I know there has been a whole lot of people out there courting me, and they really really showed how much they care for me with all their love and affection. But I decided to go with Introvert who barely knows who I am and may not even like me!
<3 What will Cat say!?!?!
