Actually, expecting tips as a requirement, from what I've read around the topic, is typically American. This isn't meant as an attack on American waiters and waitresses, but on the system itself. In most countries, these workers are actually paid a proper living (albeit low) wage by their employers. As nearly as I can tell, it is only in the US where a waiter who never received tips would actually starve.

I've spoken to friends who went to bars in the US and got cold looks when they didn't tip the bar staff. You try tipping bar staff in the UK, and the likely response would be utter confusion from them, followed by a swift grab for the money in case anyone sees it.

In Japan, I know of NO bar or restaurant (no respectable one anyway) where tipping is encouraged either.

The thing I have to wonder is, did this person drop out of school right after elementary, or is this person not really an adult? This is by far the most extreme example of bastardized English I have ever seen from someone that is supposed to be an adult.

Now to what this thread is actually about: I've been making clothing based off computer generated textures--fractals, etc., political statements and strange texts, and I've not set anything up that would really allow me to make money from this clothing--yet. So far I've just been giving people copies of my shirts. It's going to be interesting to see how it pans out when I start trying to make money from them. Thanks for the warnings of what not to do.

Aside from the fact that (1) personal shit is against the TOS and (2) we're only watching the carnage because we're bored -- it's so much more effective to eviscerate your enemies with good spelling, punctuation, grammer and imagery.

My current favorite descriptive line is "unlike other vampires, her fangs were in her vagina." Please consider spending some time coming up with quotable descriptions of your opponent.

Iunderstand what you're saying here.. but the girl was (is american) I did say the donation was required. Felix, to my knowledge, there are a *lot* of countries out there where tipping is not the rule. I'm in Australia and generally you tip for good service, not because it is expected. If Musuko *is* Japanese, then it is actually considered really rude to tip - it just isn't done in Japan.

Yeah, I know that now, according to another post in this thread. Doesn't change the fact that tipping IS the rule in the US, though (though it might explain why foreigners usually don't tip for squat).
