Am I misinterpreting this? Does this environment really produce useful and profitable software? Are there any viable examples of it?

Or is the correct interpretation that SL has managed to get where it is today despite LL's unique development model?

Might it not be that the 'The Tao of Linden' model has reached its limits? SL having reached a size and level of complexity where it simply can't progress further under this development model?

I'm reminded of a bit of dialogue from the film Apocalypse Now:

'They said my methods were... ...unsound'

'I don't see any method.'

I'm not sure I do either. Just a total avoidance of responsibility.
Too bad.
And an extraordinarily poorly timed statement too, especially in the light of Robin's 'bad luck' announcement.
