Given the broad range of content having some sort of age verification seemed the responsible way of running this virtual world. Taking it away seems extemely irresponsible and even reckless. The idea of potential issues with under age players seems almost a certainty and as such a place I will no longer support. Hopefully LL reconsiders this policy.

Other. It doesn't look like a good idea, but I haven't heard the lindens side of the story. I need to hear what their thinking was before I say it was bad thinking. From what i heard of some lindens, was that the website gets a lot of hits, but not many finish their signup when they reached the CC part. The CC part was scaring away potentional customers. _____________________

![]() I do not Agree with the New SL Registration Changes! I was working on making my home open to all. A home for ones with out a home in SL to come and have a home, and have fun. And was setting stuff up to help new ppl by giving out free stuff. But do to this I have stoped and locked my home down. ![]() _____________________

Stop This Registration Sytem
06-13-2006 02:45
QUOTE "Jamie Bergman" Here's what I dont get... you all are acting like SL is some exclusive club that only High Falutin Poo Poos should be able to get in.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I have had to ban 3 NOOOBS as you call them from my sim already Leaving items scattered all over the circuit, spoiling evryone elses enjoyment when im not logged in. Basically if I don't remove the items, they stay there for everyone to crash into SL is on it's last legs, this new registration is bringing to many people in, the servers will not be able to cope with the influx SL at the moment is lagging like hell, packet loss is high, graphics is crap and linden is blaming drivers. NOTHING to do with drivers we have all replaced them and the crap is continuing. After this week of a RED HOT forum with complaint after complaint is LINDEN doing anything - NO! Racing at Pro Racer is now stopped because it just can't work. This is 8 weeks of work destroyed and thousands of L$ Because LINDEN just will not LISTEN to what is being said. ** This was an SL Community SIM for all to enjoy not a money making venture ** We really need silly Mozilla browsers like a hole in the head, the inventory was more important than sorting server and GFX issues out. NOW we have Linden stopping the verify in registration, WHY ? What is he thinking ? STOP IT NOW before it gets to late to do anything to reverse it. Let us have SL back how it used to be before this update 1.10 and the huge failure 1.7 wes released. Sam ((_____________________

SL's dark trial begins...
06-13-2006 05:01
Either the SL community prevails to remove the griefers/alt scammers/under-age teens on the Main Grid, and SL survives.
Or the SL community does not prevail, whether their own fault or not,and SL becomes known as 'a free MMO with a crap community and easy access to XXX',and falls onto dark times. There is no 'going back'.... Of course, genuine new and non-griefer players will also be able to enter SL now. Let's not forget our kind ways to the new players. Innocent until proven guilty.... |

Other. I definitely have concerns. As Jopsy stated, for LL and any potential liability. I'm concerned about the lack of age verification. I do imagine however, they run it by their lawyers.
I can see LL needing to open it up though. I know people who've balked at the credit card stage when checking out SL. Some kind of middle ground would be good, but I don't know it it's possible. Driver's license for US might work, other countries, I think we'd be stuck with the credit card. I definitely think some age verification is necessary though. _____________________

I voted 'other' because, while I am very thankful for the abilty to create as many alts as I want, I feel the lack of age verification is a VERY BAD THING.

I'm missing out - I haven't created any alts. One reason is I still haven't seen anything official saying we no longer have to abide by the rules of how many accounts in a household, whatever they are.
But hey, maybe it is my DUTY to create more alts and up those numbers! Samantha, I still feel terrible about your racing thing being ruined. coco _____________________

If any of you doubted the negative impact of wide-open registration on SL (and I was one of you), look no further than the content of this board today.
Now multiply that by 50x in-world and you have a rough idea of what this is doing to Second Life. It's not that we are flooded with newbies -- it's that we're flooded with newbies who have no accountability for their actions. _____________________

I'll tell you why it sux. Because now everyone is taking all the good names! I could kick myself for not getting the name I wanted before as an alt, because I was afriad of "using up" my limit. Now, it's taken by some idiot who will use it for two days to run around with and never touch SL again.

Here's what I dont get... you all are acting like SL is some exclusive club that only High Falutin Poo Poos should be able to get in. Thats bogus! SL is like America... give me your poor, your huddled nOObs, yearning to make money on the internet! SL is the land of opportunity! Stop trying to keep the nOObs out! So sorry you don't 'get' what most people are upset about as it's really not that hard to understand. This isn't about being in some uber elite group, it's about the fact that most adults would rather hang out with other adults and not wonder if their new friend/neighbor/partner/whatever is a 12 yr old. The fact is when I signed up it was stated that SL is for over 18 and then the TG came along for those not able to be on the MG. I left a game I was on for about 7 years because it became overridden with kiddies who had no respect for others and were scamming left and right, among other things. I don't want to see the MG have the same problem over time with this new and exciting no-verify registration system. This isn't about a new person in general but kids who do not need to be here. Why again is it so hard to understand that people are upset about kids being able to get on the MG and that it isn't about new people in general who are of age to be here? _____________________

TROLLING WITH AN ALT.
Is this allowed? Or is this something like putting someone's quote out of context in your signature and harrasing them with it for a year? Or does it depend on who they're doing it to? coco _____________________

WTF? Is *everything* me?
On a side note - Cocoanut Cookie is YOUR alt - and in the above message you're trying to goad a response from me for some reason.. .which is Trolling. So I guess it may depend on who you are and who you're doing it to.. unless you get a warning or something. _____________________
