I modified my avatar. Made him short and fat. Seriously, have you EVER seen a fat avatar in SL? I've only been playing for a month or two, but I'm pretty sure I haven't.
I wonder if I'll be treated differently...

I've seen a few here and there. One of my favorite avatars that I have "Aunt Esmerelda", an elderly lady with cane and a wobbly walk.

ive seen them but the majority of the ones ive seen usually do it to try and gain attention
(as if they were the one who invented the obnoxious slob routine) Will you be treated differently?... Hopefully no, but i just recently made my alt account look like a female version of golem from LOTR and altho noone has said anything, alot get a glimpse and run like hell from the uglyness heh |

I've seen a number of fat avatars. I'd have one myself if they didn't just look lumpy beyond the point of 'chubby'. Once the edges get straight and choppy, it doesn't look 'naturally' fat, but rather just badly made and not at all rounded.

I have a reasonably fat avatar but that's mostly because I don't care about clothing much - with small expections like testing stuff I have the same clothes on I already had a year ago*. The texture stretching on big avatars can be a problem.

I'm FAT and proud of it!

I just joined and the first thing I did was make my avatar fat. I'm going for the overweight "Jersey Girl" look, with big hair, tight clothes and showing a bit too much skin.
Still getting the hang of it, and would love to hear any comments or suggestions. Jenny "Jersey Girl" |

Like a blob made of lego blocks... the mesh just cant handle it. |

I wonder if I'll be treated differently... I should seriously hope not. When I look at my list of friends, and some of the wierd and wonderful creations they have as avatars... an overweight human is far more 'normal'. My avatar is simply me in pixel form, weight and all. Why should that be considered 'wierd' when compared to a blue fox, a gay horse, or a demon avatar - all of whom are on my friends list? I have never understood why, but it's considered wrong to single out people for abuse because of the colour of their skin, sexual orientation or disability - yet it's perfectly fun to joke about overweight people "because it's their own fault". It is something that constantly irritates me that people don't see "size prejudice" as being wrong. Lewis _____________________

I see a lot in new residents. Often short, fat, frequently pink, hairy, bearded and in lingerie.
In fact I keep a photo gallery of them. I'll probably blog it sometime. Whatever it is, it's something in the human psyche that seems to come out a lot. I'm guessing that most of them change after their first day or two. |

"Sumo" avatar?

I wonder if I'll be treated differently... Adman I've given up on mine. I want my avatar to be a short and jolly Japanese fellow... I'd like to role-play medieval Japan from time to time. My original vision was a japanese guy with yukata for roleplay. What I have found is that it is nearly impossible to find 1) Skins 2) Shapes 3) Clothes ...for overweight avatars. I've tried creating my own, but I find that "fat" avatars do not look natural. The mesh isn't fine enough, and it looks like the Lindens haven't focussed on providing realistic body-types that aren't "skinny." |

"Minmaxing" the appearance sliders to create grotesque monstrosities is surprisingly common among folks.... particularily people that tend to act a lot like grotesque monstrosities.

chubby avi
04-10-2006 11:26
my avatar is big and chubby. she is also beautiful. she has looked the same(basically) since i started in 2003. ive been told many times that she looks great, only once i was in a store and someone said something insulting. getting clothes that look good is a little challenge, but she's worth it.

The SL male model needs major work...
04-10-2006 11:36
I modified my avatar. Made him short and fat. Seriously, have you EVER seen a fat avatar in SL? And for some reason it's hard to avoid huge knees. Skinny characters have other problems. You don't have to turn the sliders down far at all to get shoulderblades like something out of a charity video. And it actually seems to have gotten worse in recent updates. |
