Its so rare that I actually read these forums and see anything POSITIVE posted. So, I will be the first to do so.

The Lindens should be praised and lauded for their continued progress on making SL a world-wide capitalistic zone. Regardless of what nation you log into SL from, be it red, pink, white, or green - once you step foot in SL you have entered the world of capitalism!

To this end, I think that LL is doing the entire world a service by allowing all those to enter to see the benefits of capitalism. (And also to become acquainted with how it works) I hope that LL catches the eye of the United Nations or some other international philanthropic organization and is awarded some sort of Freedom Commendation.

Ok, thats all - LL please keep up the world-wide good work that you are doing!

No, it is not Oligarchy. Ulrika is WRONG. In SL, you can buy your land, create your goods, and sell them to the public.

That, my friend, IS capitalism.

I'm now convinced you don't know what the word "capitalism" means.

Um, yah... Sure.

More importantly, any new resi's or people who may have missed out,

Very Important link to help you avoid being scammed by people reselling items that were intended to be free.

But sure, hurrah for SL and the fact that it (or many other internet protocols) bring us all around the world together. Yaaay for capitalism and a free market, where hopefully by being informed, consumers can make an informed decision and learn which goods and services are really worth their salt. :D

Why do you Communists always have to ruin everything? I've had to AR this post because the link attached make completely fraudulent claims and inferences. Sigh.

There is nothing incompatible about Capitalism and Oligarchy.

Capitalist economies are often Oligarchic by default in nations where the natural Fascistic tendencies of the Capitalist system are under some kind of minimal constraint. In short, it's practically the most common state of affairs.

Jamie once again your denying what you have done and may well continue to do is an afront to the good people of SL. You are in my own personal view the worst example of capitalism out there you are all about greed and dishonesty and all that is negative about the capitalism you're the anti captialist the one the communists want there people to see so they can keep them from all that is good about a true fre market system. Please in the name of all that is right crawl back under your rock and get outa sight

Yard sales are not events. They go in the classifieds everywhere else in the RL, so why have them as events in SL?

Yeah its a free market as long as you don't put impeach bush signs ON YOUR OWN LAND. Or give away free product as loss leaders, or do not unduly compete with established businesses. Nor can you put money chiars on your land, as that is gaming the system. Or have enough free captial to purchse sims directly. Aslo you must recognized that established creators are obvioulsy entitled to your RL entertainment dollars, and the value of the linden needs to be bolstered artificially so that people's RL profit margins remain high. Also not contracts can be enforced, except by being shouted down in the forums.

SL captialism is very much like SL itself, a simulation of the real thing.

CYBER SOCIALISM NOW! The revolution is coming. Down with the Great SL satan!

What I dislike about the SL forums is that any positive post ends with drama and fraudulent accusations.

I started this post to point out the good things about SL and it has turned into a mudslinging fight.

Its sickening.

Just like a Capitalist to yawn! You're all the same.
Evil I tells ya, eeeevil!

Please note that the use of the word "fascist" was perhaps a bit over the top in the previous post and that there are some rather severe racist overtones to most historical examples of "fascist" governments that may not apply to most modern expressions of capitalism which are essentially "classist" and not racist. The comparison was meant only to refer to the pyramidical/feudalist/miltaristic morphology of the systems in question.

1. This is the forums-accusing people of causing drama is like handing out a speeding ticket at daytona.

2. The notion that capitalism is a good thing is entirely subjective and open to debate. thus perhaps your post was not exactly pointing out a good thing in SL, but pointing out something you thought was good. This is the forums, posting your opinions is like consent to have others tear them apart, with varying degrees of success. If you want to glad hand the Lindens, without eliciting responses you may not like, post it in Notices and Well wishes.

3. You have been around long enough to know the way things work, if it sickens you, I have some sympathy. But its the same sort of sympathy I have for a smoker with lung cancer-I am sad by the conditiond and would not wish ill on anyone, but part of me says you know the risks.

what i dislike about the sl forums is people who steal other people's work and sell it for their own. i also dislike when people claim to be the expert on something, yet their posts clearly show they don't know much about that topic. lastly, i dislike when people whine about others rightly expressing their own opinions on topics.

it's sickening.

Well I absolutely abhor the selling of freebies, but I must admit to confusion over the idea that "Capitalists think it's wrong." Jamie is actually right in that this sort of thing is not only allowable in standard capitalist economies it happens all the time. It's the chief business model of a lot of folks.

It may be morally repugnant (I can't wait for LL to make it explicitly "illegal" through the correction of the permissions flaws), but it's a very basic RL business technique to find some product that has no rights and is "free use" and re-sell it at a profit, especially if you change it in some way that can be considered "value-added." Companies do this all day long in RL.

"value-added."

GD it! Why the heck would you have to say something like this? I'm gonna go hurl.

Why don't we just give in and talk about agendas, negative growth, predictive analytics, process improvement, macro-analytic decision cycles, psychographics, enterprise value, economic capital, take-aways, CRM, actionable, back-sourcing, benchmark, deliverable, brown bag session, customer facing, dashboard, key indicators, fact-based management, data mining, forensic analysis, FTE, pushback, thought leadership, transparency, blocking and tackling, granularity....I gotta go hurl again.
