I go in cycles, sometimes I am in world constantly and creating and socializing and stuff, then I get bored or drama happens, then I go do other things for a while (WoW mostly) then I come back and find new things to interest me.

For me, I'd say my focus of interests shifts in time. It's kind of like one of those vending machines with wacky minitoys (collect 'em all!), you put the same coins in, but each time, you get a different little monstah guy or jelly racing car or whatever. Hopefully you end up getting the whole set.

Sometimes I'm up in the middle of the night and I get these compulsive urges to visit grouped themes things. Like one day it was "I MUST SEE PIRATE SHIPS!" and I had a whole camping chair photobinge.

I like finding new things to be fascinated by. This whole dynamic BJS (Bounce, Jiggle, and Sway) keeps it very vivid indeed.

It really can be a cyclical event. There was a period where I was very bored with SL, but I think it was because I was out of challenges here. When Lindens introduced HUD functionality, I found a new, irresistable challenge and I had a lot of fun after that.

But yeah, comes and goes.

For myself, I was on the downward plunge on my interest, until I landed a awesome commission for making clothing for a club, so my interest just skyrocketed for me.

I just came back from about a three month break and so far I'm having a blast. It's like I've been reborn or something metaphorical like that.

I sometimes get bored, but since I'm a cyclic person in pretty much everything I do, this is quite normal. A few weeks or months break, if needed, and things become exciting again ;)

When I first came into the world, I was impressed by anything and everything. I soon found my niche, and some great people to socialize with. I'd come home from work around 5pm and rest assured I'd be on until 3am the next day, every day for a YEAR!

Today, I find myself online once a month or so. If that's due to boredom, then yes, day by day.

I can't remember ever being bored in SL. I've felt lonely sometimes, when there's been no-one around or my friends are all busy smooching, but being bored would mean there was nothing new to see. If anything I find there's too much to see and not enough time to see it in!

pie! Yes, of course I get bored. Just like I do with everything else. Then, something happens and I get interested again. If it wasn't for a few of my friends here in SL, I would have been gone a long time ago, to be honest :)

No, I have never gotten bored in SL. FRUSTRATED, often! Due to prim drift, accidentally deleting something, etc.

Or the limitations in the system itself, such as having something lined up something PERFECTLY and there is still a seam - I mean, I will even have like one solid colored simple square prim OFF OF WHICH I click "create" and then click that side so that another one appears right exactly on that side - you can't get more perfect than that - and there is STILL a seam showing.

Frustration, oodles. Boredom, never.

Shift drag is your friend :D you can create an exact duplicate of any prim you have made that way :D

I use that all the time, Maeve. I'm talking about a lesser-known box in the edit box - in the top half of it - which means you don't even have to drag.

You just click on a prim, click create, checkt he box at the top right of the edit box, check "center" I believe (or anyway, choose one of two there) then click back on the prim you want duplicated, then click "create" in the side of that prim you want the duplicate to appear at.

So that if you have a square prim, by clicking "create" (the wand) on that side of the prim, an exact copy of it appears exactly next to it on that side. Exactly abutting it.

You simply can't get more exact than this. Yet seams will sometimes still show. Even when they usually don't. It's just the way the program is.

....When I first started I decided I'd quit the moment I stopped thinking of things to make. Seems I haven't hit that point yet.

I'm on the edge of just declaring a hiatus. I made a hud-enabled gun. It works pretty well. I'm waiting for LL to add more input capture options to I don't have to compromise movement. But I have to start working in a 'real life'.

Yep...I got bored finally after a year and a half...and was in and out of WoW, and now I am back in WoW stronger and further than ever. However I still have my friends and SL family, and still DJ at minimum two events per week, and a lot of times those events remind me why I love SL and will probably never leave SL.
Those closest to me stay in touch via Yahoo for the most part, but it isn't quite the same as wreaking havoc together IN SL :D

I agree! Sometimes I just wake up, get a glass of water in the middle of the night and think "I wonder how John Doe is?" or "I *have* to go exploring tomorow!"..

Basically, I drift in and out of SL, I drift in, create some stuff, I drift out, I drift in, do some socializing, I dift out, I drift in, go slootzoring with Willow.. Well, you get the idea..

Usually when I get bored with SL I go play other games.. Usually Sims2 or Civ IV :)

Or my fav game, The Forumzorz!

Usually about the time I get bored I hit a problem to be solved, or a new idea for an invention or design. Sometimes I'm even gone a month (gasp) before being drawn back. :D

Like last night, I actually woke my mate up around four to ask a scripting question because I couldn't fall back asleep without knowing. :o

I am bored a lot with Second Life.

The last major feature change was custom animations.

Nothing since then really qualifies as a major improvement in the ability to immerse one's self in a virtual environment.

Better input systems would be a major improvement that would make it seem fresh, but there doesn't seem to be even the tiniest hope for that.

Better avatar appearance would be a big improvement, The realer you look the more immersed you feel.

There has been no improvement in the scripting language that makes it more fun to script for me.

Even the scripting editor, which is worse than the edit program that came with DOS 3, owing to it's bizarre and perverse indentation behavior, lack of find string behavior, etc., hasn't been improved since I joined, despite the relative simplicity of writing a better text editor or even creating a hook to allow one to use the text editor of their choice. This illustrates to me the flaw in trying to create a workplace where everyone gets to do what seems "cool" to them. The things that customers want intensely might not be cool to create, but just take some mundane, boring, uninteresting coding. So if the work that gets done is what strikes the workers as interesting, rather than simple dull things the customers want done, what gets done is only the most fun parts of what strikes the workers' fancies, never finished or polished, while the mundane things that would take relatively simple programming to implement just don't get done at all, for years, and perhaps forever.

I am fairly new at SL. I like to explore but I really think down the road I will tire of doing that. I do not have the RL time to figure out how to do all the creating, scripting and designing....no clue how it's done... although I respect and admire those who do it.

It seems for the most part SL is mainly for those who can create things. 75% of this forum talks about scripting and creating and the economy etc...a totally different language to me.

I will enjoy exploring and attending some events till one day there will be no incentive to sign on and perhaps I will be like others and only stop in from time to time to see if there is anything new going on.

I never thought I'd see the day I would be bored but it's come. We closed the stores & packed up our little island. If it wasn't for the great friendships, I'd never be in world anymore. Went from 'all dai' to MAYBE 2-3 hours a week. I used to love building, now I can care less. I have ideas.. just don't wanna be arsed w/ it. Kismet & I have moved on & are playing WoW for the most part now :)
