Just noticed this little article and how they are planning to show a face-to-face studio session within the confines of Second Life.
Could be interesting to watch if you are in the UK

Is that like a head lolling around while someone does a voiceover? |

I'll do my best to record it, but I've not tried transferring off the recorder to a PC yet so don't hold your breath.

I just have one question.
WHY is the picture with the caption "It is possible to run a business in SL" showing the person playing Guild Wars? Or has Linden Labs been keeping a secret from us? I WISH I had my guildwars avatar in SL! ![]() _____________________

About the 'Sacremento Bio Terror Crisis Center' replica that is used to simulate Anthrax attacks. In SL! As you can tell from the interface. |

Hai guys,
From what we know about the broadcast segment, it is a recreation of a two-way back-and-forth conversation between Jeremy Paxman and Paul Mason about Second Life. They sent us the pre-recorded segment and Makaio and I recreated the studio while Makaio really and truly champed it out by scripting and slicing animations for the 102 second recreation. We recorded the 102 second segment from 4 angles, included some "flying around SL" shots, and also tossed in some video footage of Paxman and Mason dancing on top of the Newsnight desk, and sent it to them for editing. If this isn't shown on BBC America, their producer promised me a copy of it, so I'll have it up at the Tiny Seadog site eventually. On a side note, from my conversations with Paul Mason, he's really and truly excited about SL and everyone at the BBC has been nothing but glowingly positive. I'm really hoping that this might be the beginning of a semi-regular appearance of SL on BBC news programs, as they've asked to keep the set and some other props, along with the avatars we created. I'm so excited to see the finished segment! Hi mom!EDIT: Frans, those were my first two really good av skins. I didn't know I made them either until they were done ![]() Also, Paul is trying to get a version of the broadcast segment up on the web as soon as possible, there's an issue with the streaming version, but as soon as I get a link I'll post it here. Aaaaaaaaaand here's Paul's blog on the piece: http://paulmason.typepad.com/newsnig8t/2006/01/i_go_head_to_he.html JEBUS ONE MORE EDIT: Just wanted to give massive props to Makaio. He didn't end up in the interview, but PLEAAAAAAAASE trust me that this project couldn't have come to life without him - he literally made the whole thing run, scripted things I've never seen before in SL just to make it work, and pulled it all in on a super tight time schedule. I just make crap look pretty - he makes it work, which in my opinion is much more important. And big thanks to Cristiano Midnight, who helped us work out where to find the animations we needed to work into the piece <3 _____________________

Actually Kris, no I didn't see the video until you pointed it out. Thank you for stating the obvious for those of us that weren't being observant like me!
EXCELLENT report. Not sure if it makes us look good or bad ... but still excellent. oh..and now I understand the GW's reference...though I think that picture caption was misleading. ![]() _____________________

Thanks Salazar!
Here's the just-updated link from the BBC with the report. Scroll to the bottom and open up their media console - you may have to sit through the rest of the news first, but that won't kill anyone ![]() http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/newsnight/4585112.stm _____________________
