Go into people's houses and turn on everything in sight, un-hide poser balls, and open every door they can find and then leave?? I don't mind visitors or I'd have my land private, but have some courtesy and leave the place the way you found it!

Sorry...little vent there!

You do know that you can get a lockable front door right?

You do know that is absolutely meaningless in Second Life, right?

Well, if the scripted lock door keeps people out, it works, right? Its not like they cost 1mil L$. Im sure if you looked around hard enough you could get the script and put it in your own front door.

On a more serious note, locking doors will not stop anyone who is seriously hellbent on breaking in. But since I have build houses for friends before and visit them regularly, I do notice that houses with locks, even if they probably get broken into as often, aren't as much of a mess because of it. The only prims I ever find in my warehouse are from friends who were building and got messy.. even though I know from sensors I have placed that I get on average 6-8 illegal visitors a day(with another 5-6 who try the locked door and give up). :D

At the very least a lock tells people that the owner doesn't want them to come in, and if they do break in then they have no right to get huffy if there happens to be boobytraps.. >.>

.. oh yeah, I went there.

I would call it the Goldilocks syndrome. Kind of like peaking in peoples medicine cabinets in real life. I don't do it... but I can understand the appeal.

I am dying of curiousity to see what all people do with thier homes. I haven't taken to wandering them and finding out for myself.

This comment is rediculous, lockable front doors or any doors for that matter mean absolutely nothing in SL. Too many ways around them. I've found myself in locked homes completely unintentionally as a newb and have since found many other ways that are used to circumvent locks. Not that I'd do so myself, one of the few honest ppl that when in a situation like that leave ASAP.

To Music teacher ... cuz we have a bunch of ppl who come in to sl think every thing here is theres or some thing ... thinking it virtual ect ... and we can play with every thing ... they dont realize we spend our hard earned money for this stuff .. and sopme ppl dont have common sence or ... Respect for other stuff in here .... we pay good money for this stuff ...

Only thing i can think of is edit your land so you can specif who come on your land or not and it will block out every one else ..... Or get one of those barrier things that will boucne ppl off your land ... that all i can say ...

Ppl loose there Ethics and mortals coming in here ..... Some see it as a bigg las Vegas or a long going jerry springer show ...... ARGGGG

They dont see the Real ppl here or money ect ....

Every time I consider breaking into someone's house, I consider what could await me..

The worst I have come up with is a large, angry, hairy man in rubber boots, waving a stick and going "You is my lil puppy now."

.. I don't break into peoples houses.

.. unless I have the linden freebie Axe equiped. :D

(just had to do that) But seriously, someone mad ethe comment they are dying to know what people do with their houses etc, well thats actually a resonable theory... so rather than just barge in unannounced, we should do a showcase of homes of some sort. LMAO Worth a shot, I mean heck what else do we have to haha

alot of the houses in second life I notice are mainly glass fronted or just glorified greenhouses. I was walking past (yes I walk in secondlife) one the other day and saw something cool in their house through the window (it was probably shiny as I am attracted to shiny things like a magpie), so I checked to see that no one was around and wandered in to see who made the cool wee object of my coverteousness, the only time I have 'broken' into someone's home.

Naturally they teleported in as soon as I wandered in.

I was busted, and apologised my butt off. The guy was extremely friendly though and we had a good laugh about it, at the end of the day it's not like I could have walked off with his tv set, prims are pretty much bolted to the ground.

That said I don't make a habit of wandering through other people's houses as I know some folks want their privacy, but dear god, all bets are off when I see something shiny.

sorry, a bit of an aside there.

Some people reeeeeeally take things to the max, huh?

I can understand one not liking others to drop in while you're alone or with some company. Privacy and whatnots.

But hey, what the heck is anyone doing flipping out because people drop by their houses while they *aren't* there?

- You can't BREAK anything.
- You can't STEAL anything.
- You can't SPEND anything.
- You can't even MOVE anything around.
- At the very very worse, prims or objects might be left about - something solved mindlessly by a simple return button.

You afraid someone will see your BDSM corner? Or the porn on the walls? Well - it's the internet, what did you expect? No one would find out?

I guess it's time for a reality check, guys. This is a virtual world. Not a real world - and it's not necessarily a real world simulation either.

Actually, you *can* break things - scripts, for example, can crash if they are misused sometimes.
