How would you feel about finding your clone?

If I found a clone of myself, I'd be absolutely floored. There really aren't many drow avies to begin with.

In TSO Running into ones Clone was an every day experience, So, I think i would be used to it, Luckily, No one here can copy my last name, so there hasn't been any attempt to Impersonate me in SL, as had happened in TSO.

I keep changing what I look like, so I don't think there would be a clone of me.

I Have allwas Tryed To make my avie look like no ones av, but i have one. after i made my av.
i ran in to 2 people with the same. thay got mad and said i stole it from them.
so i Think It Happens.
as for Names my roommates name in sl is pelawo, her name could be male or female.
I Know when i make a av, i try and make av so its not like evarones, but i do make cute short avs. I do not care for the "moble looking girl look" . i want something more normal looking .

Considering avatars transmit their appearance and baked texture uuids to everyone else, cloning is a straightforward process.

I would be surprised if someone else wanted to be a purple haired little old lady with purple glasses. If I ran into me here I would say: "Why, you are just prescious, perfect, AND adorable!"

Oh and I'm not unhappy...it's the only purple icon.

I kinda already have a 'clone' of mine walking around, as I'm 1/2 of a pair of twins... tho my brother has a slightly different bodyshape and hair.. (his being a little shorter)

I'd be quite amazed if I saw someone else that looked just like me (or my bro for that matter) as I have done a lot of customizing, made my own skin/fur texture (bro aslo has the same one, including the foxpaw tattoo on the chest) and redone my hair from what it was originally... (My AV is a luskwood fox).

After the amazement would end, I'd either ask them nicely to stop impersonating me, or befriend them and take them to a skybox for a little fun... Depending on the person and their RP'ing skill.

And I'd surely ask how in the world they'd get their paws on my skintexture...

Flattering, and a little scary, that's what it'd be. 'Specially if the person would show my little quirks, weirdnesses and everything.

Having a furry AV, I've run into "myself" a couple of times. What was stranger though was finding the same AV on store displays modelling sex toys and risque clothing. Yes, I took some snapshots for fun, and no I'm not showing them to anyone lol

I would be really concerned that my clone would be better than me. I'd probably have to kill it.

My theory: AI has spontaneously erupted in the computers at Linden Labs and it wants to make friends with the human avatars that populate the world. Since it's still a relatively simple AI, it simply assumed the form of the first av to pass it by on its birth. Did you notice that your clone spoke in simple or broken English? (Okay, I've been reading too much of Greg Egan's sci-fi.)

This is why I really believe that creators of skins and shapes should not only allow modification, but encourage it. It seems to me that even just a little bit would really go a long way in keeping exact duplicates from running around. I'm curious, is there a way to maybe limit the intensity of the modification sliders in such a way that the integrity of the creators shapes and skins are not compromised, but the wearer still gets to add a little of their own flair to it?

I ran into Frans Charming's doppelganger at a Slackstreet event. He had a similar looking facial structure, same hair and everything. When I told Frans, he said that's the second one he's encountered that looked similar to him. Apparently that's why his hair is colored purple and green.

Eh, it never happened to me, given that durng the periods I'm in world, I tend to anyway change hairstyles or even skins fairly often (although I mostly shift between my pale one and my dark elf ones, if I may say so). I'd find that quite funny, probably. Especially if s/he also wears a kitche on the forehead.

and... his other doppleganger he met while helping me set up for a wedding in the Darkwood Cathedral... a nice clone and we joked he could be Frans' younger brother.

I think I would be really upset if I saw another avatar that looks like mine. It's taken me a year to get my av looking exactly how I want her to, and would feel like I needed to change the sculpt if someone cloned her.

If I met my clone I'd wonder if she was fed up that she'd broken her av again and wished her lips would still rez instead of looking like she had been eating jam off a whacking great big spoon <cries>.

I mean, I would fix it ... if I could get in!!!!!!!
