I've been told I looked creepy, so I guess that holds off cloners too ;)

It's funny. in RL I get mistaken for other people all the time (sometimes to great benefit -- being mistaken at the movie store when returning late movies is a boon!), yet in SL my avatar has remained extremely unique for almost 3 years now.

I guess my lack of fashion sense has its benefits, too :)

I've never seen any other avatars that looked like mine... there have been a few that were close, but with definite differences in multiple areas. I think I have a rather different facial structure than most other people i've seen, so i'm not really anticipating that anyone else would want to take the time to duplicate it. It's not that interesting, after all :)

The only time I gave my shape out was once when I was having trouble with those stupid nose lines... she ended up not helping at all, but I still haven't seen another me floating around there so i'm not too worried.

I think if I ran into another me... i'd be kinda annoyed. I like that I have a somewhat unique look, and since I haven't changed it hardly at all for my whole time here i've grown attached to it.

If anyone else is walking around with my shape, I'd be sorely surprised...I designed it to resemble myself in RL. Ditto on the skin. (It worked, too. People in-world have told me I look like Conan O'Brien, but I've also been told that by at least one person in RL.)

Now, I also have a "Goth skin" I use sometimes, but that's just my ordinary skin turned paler and with the addition of black makeup, so it's still "me." And I'm pretty sure no one else has a copy of my Bent, which I often wear in conjunction with my in-world outfits (especially my polo-shirt-and-khakis "Default Erbo";). So anyone you meet who looks like me is likely to be me. :)

Haha Soleil! It's funny you say that because I've noticed lately that just about anyone with Lost's female skin and light blue eyes gets compared to me, probably against their will! I think though, if you put us side by side there are plenty of noticible differences there. Our facial structure, body shape, etc. Similarities are bound to happen in world but it's rare I see two people that look exact.

Once in RL a stranger came running up to me and said, "Hey, Funnyface!" and gave me noogies. It seems he thought I was his SISTER ========:O In SL it's all been good, though.

Ha, I like that. :D

I'd be pretty surprised to find someone who looked *exactly* like me, since I always wear horns that I made myself. I've seen people with my same skin who looked similar, but there are enough differences with my facial features that it wasn't an exact match.

It'd be unusual, although not impossible, to see someone with my same hair-skin combo, if only because the skin I usually wear is an older one.

I generally switch between two pairs of eyes, and one of those two I made myself, so I'm not really worried about those being copied either.

If I came across someone who'd taken the trouble to copy my look right down to the horns, I'd probably be briefly freaked out and then flattered, and claim her as a sister. :D

I think it is Poland that now has a President and a Prime Minister that are identical twins.

i think i'd stand and stare for quite some time..
before realizing i was speachless. lol..

sure, my skin/hair is acheived through simple "Appearance Mode" tweaking, but my eyes and clothes are custom made by me, for me and were never sold or offered to anyone else. i know it could still be captured and used, but really.. MY look?

heck, i've barely seen anyone who even has a similar skin color! i think maybe no more than 2 or 3 AVies in the whole time i've been here have had the same color. at least that i've seen.. and even then, it was similar and not exact.

oh.. and my little sparkly thing on my forehead was something i scripted for myself and have never seen the same thing (regardless of color) on anyone else.

but wow.. if i ever saw an EXACT clone of me? i have no idea.. it be so compeltely surreal to me.

I would perhaps find it strange if the copy was also wearing the same hairstyle and clothing that I tend to favor.

Most of the furry avatars that I wear are stock avvies that anyone could go to Jakkal's Werehouse or Lost Creatures and buy. While I usually customize eyes and accessories, and in some cases slightly recolor them, there's not a lot to tell one female red fox from another by the same maker, except for clothes and hair, and maybe eyes.

My main Human forms are a based on a fairly high-end custom skin from SS Labs. But again, though I was able to customize the makeup and some minor details, it's mostly the hair and clothes that make it 'me', and not someone else. While I have put a lot of time into selecting just the specific slider settings that I want for my figure and my facial features, the commercial base skin is still a very strong similarity. For example, my Companion has a skin based on the same base skin as mine. She wears different hairstyle and hair and eye colors, has different facial feature settings, and has a decidedly different figure and height. Yet we still look like at least sisters, when we are both wearing that pair of skins.

I guess I could request for Sezmra (or as we call her in IRC, Sexmra, cause we all type too fast) for a custom skin with a big gash in the cheek or something.

True enough - my friend has had her shape & hair for over a year though, and it's her own. I have never seen that shape on any other av before.

The capper was that the imitator has a male name. That really made me go "hmm".

Ever thought you might have stumbled on your friend's alt?

Kinda explains her reaction, and Z0MG!! what if it was a guy RL!?

After giving it some thought, now I know how I'd feel if I find a clone.

Given how my avatar looks, he's not the kind that people would want to copy. He's not perfection, he's not tattooed nor a pretty boy, he's not Bahamas tanned, and he's not any of the Messrs. DeFault either. He's husky but not a V-topped bodybuilder, his clothes border on the ordinary (usually sleeveless black shirt, and jeans).

For someone to actually choose to make his avatar look like that, I think I will get along with that person.

But if I see an identical right arm I'm filing a DMCA. It's what most people compliment him on when they see him. The tie dye shirt he used to wear is a very distant second.

I'm a clone now....

You see back in the first couple of months of my Second Life, I was approached by a young lady who admired my AV (this was just a basic "adjust the sliders" ) AV, and asked if she could buy a copy of the AV for her boyfriend.

Well, I was flattered, and I gave her a copy.

Since then, I have graduated to a custom skin and shape that is subtly different from my original AV (and much more detailed, of course), but if I ever run into the gent who is wearing a copy of my original AV, I will hail him as a brother.

So to sum up, no, it wouldn't bother me.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if I found a clone of myself, since your client knows my avatar's slider settings and baked texture...

Fun with twins!
07-10-2006 15:35
I don't think my RL/SL Partner could handle two of me!! If I could get onto His account when He wasn't looking and turn off names though, THEN my twin and I could have oodles of fun.

Hmmm.... *Ponders free accounts, no account limits per credit card, and no credit card required. Smiles wickedly contemplating some fun.*

It depends on who is my clone. If it was delibratly done to copy me i would give them a bad name. If it was done by a close friend to be my twin, id accept it. :p i take my character's unique design seriusly. :)

I'd be surprised to see a clone of me. Granted, only my shape is original, to the best of my knowledge -- and I didn't do it, but a kind friend did. All else comes from someone else's work. Still, for all that, I do strive for an original and creative look.
