Ok well I only saw it for about 5 minutes, but you really couldn't tell that stuff wasn't fully rendered, the Linden who showed us was in Da Boom, and you could see everything rezzed on his av, but people towards teh back of the screen you could still see their larger prims, like hair and such I saw no bald people and a girl with a prim dress still had her skirt, but you couldn't see really small things like jewelry and the like. Since most furry avs tend to have pretty sizeable prim pieces, I don't see how it will greatly effect them.

But we aren't cool, Lord. We don't hang out by the chain link fence and smoke cigarettes during recess.
That's because chain-link fences cause too much alpha jittering, doh.

Not when made out of prims.

Ok. I have a hard time believing you've been magically let in to 1.8.2 Preview.

And it isnt "scaling", its not drawing them at all.

Torley; I'm presuming you've seen this, can you tell us a little bit about it maybe?

umm I toured LL last week, and they showed it to us. call me a liar?

how novel. Makes about as much sense as a cartoon about bears keeping people as pets. Critical theory doesn't automatically impart creedence, rationale, or correctness to an argument.

From my own experience, I find that at least 8 out of 10 folks who embiggen themselves by making fun of furries has no problem with graphic hentai. Because that's not twisted, that's "culture".

Whatever. It's the in shit to make fun of furries right now. So, carry on until the LOLs run out.

Basically, we're the nerds that even nerds can hate. You can be a basement-dwelling computer geek who doesn't wash, but, hey, at least you too can still make fun of furries.
Very well said.

Almost every culture has an "other" that they look down upon. To cite a fictional example, the television character "Archie Bunker" often expressed derision for anyone who did not share his race, color, religion, or class but had a special contempt for "Pollacks" of whom he knew one and singled them out for being intellectually inferior to him. Bunker was a splendid parody of bigotry and was daringly (for the time) written as an extreme charicature of such. It was not uncommon at the time in America for "people of Polish ancestry" to be used as a term engendering "people of lesser intellectual capacity" in jokes in the US. I recall being amused when a schoolmate of mine, who had recently moved to the US from Spain, had almost identical "idiot" jokes, except theirs referred to "Puerto Ricans".

A person of Polish ancestry, who, thankfully, isn't a damn furry :p

Whats the big deal about furries anyway, why is it so many people seem to dislike them?

I guess for most people it's simply a case of they don't understand *why* anyone would want to dress up and pretend to be an animal, and the unknown scares them.

Having seen various threads on another forum about furries, I have seen both sides of the debate. A large percentage of furries seem to be gay males, for reasons nobody seems to know, and of course as the furry community has their own words ('yiff', for example), it can be seen as something that people just don't "get", and what we don't understand is an easy target.

As for furry griefers.... probably not many, if any. Most of them seem to actually be perfectly pleasant if you actually talk to them. Of course, you get a few wierdos, but then again you get that in any special interest group anyway.

You weren't here for the Something Awful invasions. If I were inclined to rampant hyperbole that makes light of the light of real people in horrible situations, I would compare it to Kristallnacht for Furries.

I'm not one of those people, but the thought did occour to me.

I'd say there was quite a difference between a furry who happens to be a griefer, and the SA group who were griefers who happened to come in game as furries.

I wasn't around for those invasions... thankfully...

Lewis, he's talking about furries being the victims, not perpetrators of grief in the SA invasion

Ah ok sorry, I didn't quite grasp that - although my point is still valid if not correct for the situation.

All griefers pick on someone, who they feel to be inferior in some way to themselves, be it newbies, furries, some ethnic group... or landowners who enjoy their view and don't want it disrupted by political statements.

I thought Lewis was referring to furries not generally being griefers.

Gah, I made a wooden grid out of prims and that was bad enough.

OMG, I just realised. Once they have ragdoll physics for avatars... some bastard is going to make prim physical chain-mail.

I'm not a furry, and don't own a furry avie, but i must say i think they have the best looking sims by a long way from what i have seen on my travels (alot).

Am i just mis-informed about them? Do they bring grief upon SL land?
