Really good points Suezanne.

The "no naming names" policy comes from the Linden's ongoing desire to avoid making judgement calls. It's a difficult and uncomfortable position for Lindens to say "this post does NOT promote discourse leading to a stronger, better informed community." However it IS easy to say "This post named names."

Similar to the ongoing debate over the "Impeach Bush" signs, the Lindens believe they will catch less grief from users by occasionally letting bad things skirt the TOS rather than allowing Linden admins or liasons to make judgement calls.

For the record, I don't have any problem with the group. I didn't know it existed, so I guess their impact isn't quite what they had hoped. I also stand behind my belief that not paying any money to Linden Lab at all to participate in SL, to use its resources, and to demand that things be given to you without paying any money is definitely not a good thing.

I don't have a problem with basic account holders who recognize that to be part of SL, they have to contribute to it by more than just sitting on a camping chair and being paid. The end result is that we all need LL to succeed for SL to continue to exist - yet there is this horrible aversion to wanting to pay them any money for anything, and I don't understand that.

Anybody else find it somewhat ironic that one of this group's members has the phrase "Don't hate!" in his/her profile?

It's probably just a response to recent lackluster forum drahma, but I'm really hoping we find out Cristiano started this group.

No. Boycotting something does not imply hate. People can boycott stores, products and services without expressing hate. Sure many do express hate but its not implied by simply boycotting.

I thought their charter was not hate filled. If Cris called them worthless (i didnt read the other thread), then why cant someone speak out with another opinion? This is hardly hate, especially when you compare it to the average crap we get on these forums. So no, I dont find it ironic that someones profile was against hate.

I went back through all of Cris' posts in the 27 pages of that thread, and Cris never called anybody "worthless."

If I were Cris, I suppose I'd be feeling a mixture of irritation, pride that somebody cared enough about my opinion to form a group like this, and joy that my business would get the exposure. As most people know, ANY publicity is still publicity, and publicity is a good thing for business.

Or maybe Cris just doesn't give two hoots about all this, who knows. :)

What Cris did or did not say does not suddenly fill other people with hate. Those are two different things. All I see here is Cris calling them zombies, blaming them for ruining DI and calling what they do stupid; then some guy creates a group because he disagress with Cris. Again, I didnt see any hate filled foaming mouth comments in their charter. *shrugs*

In my defense, I also blamed it on the Goreans. * shrug *

Phoenix, you have a lot of class to apologize on forums; extra points for working in a TP reference with style, also. :D

I am glad we had the chance to talk - but no apology is necessary, though it is appreciated. You were expressing yourself based upon what you believed, and I respect that. Your apology was very gracious though, thank you. I apologize as well for being so strident on that particular topic and causing this misunderstanding. People underestimate the value of just talking one on one with each other. It's easy for things to get taken the wrong in the forums, and for things to escalate and get rather ugly. So much of that can be avoided by just taking the time to get to know where someone else is coming from, even if you don't necessarily agree.

By the way, my house is at Mavericks 86,43 . Make sure you get the front gates with the Midnight logo on them - they are an especially flagrant display of bling:
