I want to come up with a mathematical formula for coming up with forum scoring. And I want YOU to help! I'm going to start making some rules. Please give your suggestions and tweaks: (1) A thread starter shall receive 50% of the point value of thread-wide points; each poster within will receive a share of the remaining 50%, dividing into the percentage of their total posts versus the total number of posts in the thread not made by the thread starter. (2) Threads lasting less than 5 posts get -100 points. (3) Threads lasting 6-9 posts gets 0 points. (4) Threads lasting greater than 10 posts get 1 point per post. (5) A thread getting locked gets -500 points. (6) A thread with over 100 posts gets a 100 point bonus. (7) A thread with over 1000 posts gets a 1000 point bonus. ( A thread that a Linden posts in gets a 200 point bonus. (9) A thread that Jeska Linden posts in gets a 500 points bonus. (10) Any post with the word "Hitler" in it gets the poster docked 100 points. So, what are other ideas to add to the scoring system? You have to post to win, but being a f-tard can really get you into the negative fast. Regards, -Flip

OMGZ! I want points so I'll post!!!!
Seriously though, I'm not sure encouraging flame wars or forum trolling is the best idea. Although I think it's a neat concept. Maybe have a qualitative reward as well, so that people don't just reply and say "HAI I WANT TEH PNTS!"

points/rules 8 and 9, i'm assuming these do not include warnings or the like. points only given when said posts are of a congruent nature? point/rule 10, is this for any mention? or is this for any negative connotations? for instance, would points get docked for saying "i don't like Hitler" or some such remark? pretty groovy idea though, sounds fun.. -ish.

hehehehe, the point here is, you'll think twice before starting stooooopid topics. New rules: If your score drops below -1000, you're suspended from the forums until your score reachs zero again. If you're below -1000, you receive 250 points per week. It costs 25 to start a thread. Everyone starts with 500 points. -Flip

hehehe, I see this is already going well - Siggy's going for the slam dunk. And Cybin, I'll leave that open to your interpretation. Rose, its supposed to be confusing.

Hey, what about threads with polls and necroposting? Should you dock points for necroposting or add them? And no pie option in polls should get points deducted also - especially if said poll just has yes or no as options.

What about a thread that gets a picture of David Hasselhoff? Is that a plus or minus?
