Torley suggested I query the community: /139/71/114598/1.htmlBasically, the idea is to have a sticky at the top of the forum so everyone (newcomers, oldbies, etc) will feel welcome to meet inworld at a neutral place to discuss the very issues that are being posed in this forum, any time, day or night - 24/7. I think people would socialize and get to know each other on a more personal level, which would make the place a bit more friendly. We'd be utilizing the virtual world to a greater extent I think and people would connect on a deeper and more meaningful level then just what we have here in the forum. Let me (and Torley) know what you think!

May I suggest a possible neutral venue? A few months ago when infohubs were at threat, I was one of those lucky few chosen to redevelop one. I rebuilt the Warmouth Infohub (now renamed the "Nerditorium" which has a stage area and 20 deckchairs, as well as a pleasant park atmosphere, specifically with this kind of thing in mind. Anything that increases socialisation and getting together, for anything not related to making money, gets my vote (and support if it's at a convenient time). Lewis

Workable idea.
While we're in orbit we can all (along with Torley) AR Kris together ... should be fun.

Um, I don't get it.... The SL Forum.... (aka.. the unanswered gripes and moans department) IS a place to communicate issues... I don't need to see a bunch of people around goin 'yeah' and 'no' ...Although, in world... we would be able to name names!!! And start blacklisting punk griefers!!! P

I wonder what it would accomplish?
I would certainly be in favour of discussing some of the pressing issues of the moment, so long as I felt that the feedback was getting back to where it belonged - the Lindens.
Otherwise it just becomes a talk shop, which, for people who like that kind of thing is ok, I guess.

it's a wonderfull idea, because many time there is just time enough to get a short look on SL.. just time enough for the forum, and not for the SL world .

I don't think the purpose would be so much to get things done as it would be to meet & greet the avatar behind the forum posts.

Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar adjacent to Louis Armstrong Park in the Big Easy sim would be ideal for this purpose. A neutral spot with appropriate ambience, and the presence of resis would neither benefit anyone nor detract from the performance of the neighborhood.

Thanks Margaret, it might be a good idea to also use Governor land with outside scripts/object rezzing turned off, in the way of the welcome area.
This way, no one can abuse land privileges if the conversation doesn't go there way, such as ejecting / freezing / etc.
I thought Lewis had a great proposal, to use InfoHubs. This seems like a classic purpose that they can be put to.

There should be a mud wrestling ring to settle the inevitable disputes.

I'd pay L$ to see a Pierterson vs. Bergman head-to-head debate live! In all seriousness, I don't know why, but this sounds like something I would attend. Thumbs up!

heh, it's a good idea, but the problem is you can't enter into a conversation with just a specific group of people, everyone within 20 meters of you can hear you and it gets hard to hold a coherent discussion. Now if this were organized with a moderator and adhered to some rules, people took turns etc, then it might work.
