That'd be the post in the announcements forum about a bug they're fixing. You'll get your fix in an hour.

That'd be the post in the announcements forum about a bug they're fixing. You'll get your fix in an hour. Actually, Karen Linden posted about 20 mins ago that 'Second Life 1.9.0 is now open to all residents! A new viewer will be required to use Second Life.' I'm having problems logging in too. btw wth is a new viewer? |

Please note, logins may be slow when everyone tries to login at once. Thank you for your patience!

"Slow" doesn't describe it. Login has failed for me 3 times now. I get stuck on "Correctig start locations", whatever that is, and then after several minutes, I get that "We're sorry, but despite our best efforts, something has gone wrong" message. I know logins always take a while after an update, but they don't normally fail unless something is actually wrong.
Oh, and for those who are wondering what "new viewer" means, LL always refers to the client software as "the viewer". It's the program that lets you view the SL world. _____________________

I am also getting the "Despite our best efforts... " message when I try to log in. Does this mean there's a real problem or not? Anyone know?
I got the message at least 5 times now. Thanks! |

Please note, logins may be slow when everyone tries to login at once. Thank you for your patience! It is indeed a bug. Because the client does not give the feedback: Can not connect to login server or cannoot connect but it is crashing (no feedback) and i have to kill the application. I would suggest in the next release the login procedure should give a feedback. You could also load an updated text from a webserver like "Please note, logins may be slow when everyone tries to login at once. Thank you for your patience!" that is displayed to the users. Some of them then miggth choose to try later. You should have know that this will happen, shouldn't you? Vinci |
