Sorry, but this forum has been overtaken by grade school, childish drama and tantrums about moderation and such. Can we please get it back on track? I'm about to stop even checking here because it's been overtaken by so called "adults" who are just lying on the ground waving arms and having juvenile tantrums over insignificant trite. Let's get back to discussing general issues about Second Life....please.

Don't waste your time with a thread like this. Ive seen them before, and the trolls eat them for dinner. As exemplified by the first reply to your thread, the trolls do not waste anytime. They will all be here in full blast in no time like cancer.

There is a certain irony in ranting about ranting. If you want to get back to talking about SL, then talk about SL instead of insulting people.

I'd hate to agree, but I happen to agree. I'm finding less and less interesting stuff to read and learn about at these boards because it just gets covered up in raw, pointless politics, that at the end of the day, doesn't even mean a thing! I couldn't care less about rezmods or whatnot, the only difference I see is all the bitching! Whatever happened to the cool, normal topics where one can actually discuss something that has an impact on the SL world? Hell, I MISS the sign topics, because that actually got me THINKING about the role of freedom of speech in Second Life. But this... this latest stuff... this isn't even worth it.

I am not starting a thread ranting about other people ranting or insulting them as grade school whiners, that would be you. I am saying that if you want to talk about something else, then just start that topic - nothing is stoping you. What does it serve to start a thread ranting that there are nothing but rants?

Would you prefer we return to Bush sign threads, or how about OMG WHAT ABOUT THE POOR PEOPLE threads or the 8,000 other hotbutton topics that come up. The forums go in cycles - certain topics bring a passionate response from certain people, that is the nature of them. Often times, the forums are quite boring and dull, and other times they suddenly explode on a topic. This will pass and there will be something else to discuss - in the meantime, there are all kinds of forums specifically about aspects of SL - building, animations, events, feature suggestions - all worthy places to be posting and talking about SL if you get tired of the chaos of General which has always been and always will be the center of random SL discussion.

Linden Lab doesn't want to pay for enough moderators to control the forums. They are trying an experiment at using unpaid labor to moderate the forums. People who have misused the forums for a long time, who have nothing useful to say about Second LIfe, but who love to attack people and break rules, are real upset.

The best things I can think of to deal with this present sad state of affairs includes:

1. Report Bad Posts. Read the entire Forum Guidelines and Community Standards documents several times to start with, then read the forum pertinent parts as needed. When you report a bad post, don't couch it in terms of what you like or don't like, include quotes of the precise sections of the Community Standards and Forum Guidelines that are being violated by the bad posts.

2. Make Good Posts. Try as hard as you can to think of something productive and interesting to bring up as a thread topic, and post it.

3. Bump Good Posts. You can get some idea of posts that might be worth bumping by clicking on the rating field and thus sorting by rating. The rating used to be done by the users, many users love conflict, hatefulness, personal attacks, and other negative aspects of threads, so there will be a lot of high rated threads that shouldn't be bumped, but if you skip past those you will find threads that could use an additional comment. You shouldn't just say bump, you have to say something that seems like a real response, but it can just be an agreement or a question. If you bump and old good thread and get a comment about necroposting, ignore it. Old posts are available for response.

4. Never respond to a bad, stupid, hateful, dimwitted, off topic or otherwise worthless post, not even to provide what you might think is a perfect rebuttal to some useless and unproductive thread. Most of the people making such threads and posts are either not bright enough to respond to clear thinking or are don't really care about the contents of their posts one way or another, they are just trying to make trouble and misery.

Well as the song says...

Pay your dues....
And your debts...
Pay your respects...

Everybody says you pay for what you get.

(actually I'm here to promote laughter.. I think the forums are the happiest place on earth (tm))

Trolls really are morons.
Don't you love how they operate?
Take these 2 idiots for example.
I really hope that they are not fooling themselves into thinking they are legit posters.
LMAO!

I never click on troll images. I encourage others to refrain as well. These retards put pop into a thread with flamed comments and images. Such trolls will eventually burn themselves in the end.

trolls are like sluts.

a slut is someone who has more sex than you do.

Interesting. Seeing as how it's not a link, and clicking on it would have no effect.

Also, by quoting it, you have now effectively re-posted my image. Thanks!

But please do keep fueling said grade-school drama by calling people trolls and retards. It's quite entertaining.

Sure. You really are entertained.
Only trolls post such images. No legit poster would post something like that.
And for anybody's info, trolls do not get entertained. It's just a part of there pathetic gimmick lol.
