It's REALLY sad that some lowlife is doing this. Are you really THAT desperate for money that you'll stoop to ripping off people with little money or newbs, using my good name and other designers?!? Sheesh!
Anyway, that aside. It's true. I was sent two of "my" items yesterday... to be horrified what was in it. NOT my items, or even close.
Anyone who buys Nyte'N'Day things at yard sales... beware. I can't be held responsible for the items bought anywhere but MY store locations.
If this has happened to you, let me apologize for the lowlife scammer. Apparently this person has no shame. It's not fair that you got ripped off.

From: Usagi Musashi just for the sake of being said not all those are top designer on sl..... a few yes but i say a few you post are. Does not matter if they are top designer or not, it matters that someone is stealing someone elses stuff, or they are cheating new players into buying something that is not even the same product, or the product is free. I went to some yard sales yesterday, every single yard sale i went at least 1 item was, free, full perm (owner not aware). The theif of my item, confessed to simone, on what he did to steal my texture, as well as he "Took" a picture of my poster with his SL camera.

Make the boxes themselves no Transfer

You don't have to sell your stuff no transfer but make the box it comes in no transfer so they can't do this.. I know it's to late for the stuff out there but this should stop future irritation.

I don't know about the rest of y'all, but I find that hardcore porn images improve my shopping experience. No, don't go there, I didn't say good porn.

If an item is transferable, it doesn't matter if the box it came in is or not...

boxes

They are re-using the boxes designer items came and putting knockoff stuff in them and reselling it like it was the original designers work.
Making the box it came in no transfer would not let them reuse it. I guess you could make it no modify as well then they couldn't put stuff in it only take stuff out.

And that won't stop anyone visiting your store, taking a picture of your boxes, and making their own box out of it. Always a way around it. For yard sales and stuff, the introduction of this kind of thing will end up being the death of them as popular destinations, assuming people start warning newbies about this. (I can't begin to say how many newbies I've run into in the last week who lose their entire intro money because someone was selling freebies, so the word for even this is not getting out.) Maybe there should be a sign on Orientation Island called "Scams"...

That would cause another Infonet freak out. What one person considers a scam, another could consider a business deal.

I have a yard sale going and the way I did it was to wear the item that is for sale, take a pic and make a display ad out of it and then put the item in it. That way people know what they are getting. I have also put out a notecard giver that reiterates the fact that it is a yard sale and that I do not claim to have made any of the items and to visit the creator of the item for more items they make. I haven't advertised it yet because I have a lot to put together still, but I will soon

From: Candace Sullivan I don't steal clothes ..how i could is not even understood to me but ok...and what i sell, is what i have collected...i do the same as u...buy low and resell.... Basic communication seems to be beyond you, so I can see how stealing textures is too. You do seem to be admitting to reselling freebies or low low priced stuff that's meant to be full transfer so as to share it around, for inflated prices. Maybe you don't, maybe it just reads like you are admitting that. So, forgive me for thinking your credibility is kinda lacking.

You have a point here, but then again many can use this to boost their advertizing( hech its free by posting topics like this no ). There is no better way to call attention to one products then cause some sort of drama.Well it might have some truth to this issue. But comeone some people that have not even mee noticed for their products are now posting and call attention to themselves

Candace, maybe if you had posted a clear, readable message in the first place saying what you've been doing, you wouldn't have others and I thinking you're doing something different? It sure sounded like you were talking about reselling freebees or low priced items at inflated prices to noobs.
Just a suggestion.

With regard to this particular type of scam, it is best to check to see if the object is for sale as ORIGINAL. If it is for sale as a copy or contents at a Yard sale it is probably fake. Yes there are a few people that have shops that call themselves "Yard Sales" and they sell their own items original creations, but then you want to check to see who actually made the items (probably a good idea in any case, but the way the item is set for sale is a good fast indicator of what is going on). Of course a "shop" labeled as a "Yard Sale" is misleading and you probably don't want to buy from those type anyway.

Whew..when I seen this..I instantly went to the Ravenwear item I bought at a yardsale yesterday. Luckily it WAS that object.
I will look further next time before buying at a yard sale.
Thanks for the heads up!

Since Wednesday, I currently have my yard sale up and running after much time wearing the clothing etc and taking pics and putting them in boxes (geesh what a pain lol). I have been so pleased with the response and kudos from people that have bought the items. I had about 22 skins and have about 7 left. I figured those would go pretty fast. Most of the clothes are now gone as well. I was told several times that I set my prices too low, but I'm not interested in making tons of money, I wanted newer people or people with limited funds to be able to buy things they may not normally have been able to at the store. In looking at my transactions, most of the people who bought were relatively new to SL and I only saw one name of a designer that I recognized who bought something. I'm glad I could help those people out and be able to make a bit of $ so I could buy more and put back into the economy. My rl Birthday is Monday so I'm going to go SL shopping hehe. I have never been to an actual yard sale because I think they should be for newer people or as I said, people with limited funds. I support the stores and people that I like. I think it's pretty sad to see that there is scamming going on at some yard sales. It is not a nice feeling to be taken advantage of on purpose. People who do that should be banned in my opinion.

Hooking this in to the trademark thread.
If LL has a policy of removing externally trademarked items when notified, then they ought to do the same for people doing the same thing with SL identities.

This is why i never buy from or even go to yard sales. The only workaround i can see for this is MAKE SURE the Box holding the clothes/items is No Modify. That way the buyer cannot change the contents. They can only pull things out. Also if the clothes/items are no transfer they can keep a backup handy by taking the prim back. Clothing/item permissions can be whatever though.
I've began cracking down on permissions of my items. Anything in my vendor is now set to no transfer. My Freebies are also... The Fact is that we are going to see a lot more scamming now that the incentive is gone and stipends will go soon. Greedy people are going to do whatever they can to scrape up loose pocket money. Even if it means stepping on others. >.> Sad but it's how some people are...

there is an option in the itme creation area called geneal.. you can sleect what a new owner can do.. if I dont' want something resold.. I do not check the resell option. I ALWAYS look at that before doing anything with an item.
