No, I know exactly how bad things are, and I know what its likely like in the offices there right about now. I have worked in the game industry on MMORPGs for many years. I know what the stress is like. I know the workload. I know what happens in the office when everything goes bad and your players are yelling for your heads in forums. I have been on that side of things far too much to not know exactly what is likely going on at LL these days.

Knowing what it is like is why for 2 years you haven't seen me do much...or maybe any...complaining. I often go out of my way to help explain the situation behind the scene to others. I have been called a fangirl and a LL apologist several times because I understand how easy it is for things in a complex system like this to go wrong.

All the more reason to recognize that something really bad is happening right now. If I and many of the usual suspects in this thread that are normally not known to complain are complaining...the situation is not looking good.

But, stress in the offices is no excuse for poor communication to the player-base. yes, I know most game compoanies are known for horrible communication to their players, but just because my bosses have failed to do what was right doesn't mean I agreed with it. Communication is key. Lack of communication and impatient and rude LL employees are not helping the situataion. And as stated in another thread...it is never acceptable for an employee to be rude to customers, no matter how bad the stress or how fucked the situation.


Aye. No one can question that a lot of somethings broke in this release. I just have a feeling the silence we're hearing is not the silence of not caring, it's the silence of them all running about trying to fix it and unwilling to say anything until good news is in the offing.

I have seen 4 different reports this morning about 4 different Lindens acting this way today. And some of them are Lindens I would not have expected to behave this poorly. I understand stress...but the conversations I am seeing are beyond unacceptable.


Could it be that the old Lindens we knew are being outsource and or replaced by people who work 24/7?

Thus the recent Linden responses by X Linden being non-consistant?

I knew there would be an entry like that. Always is.. Why are you people that dont have the the Quadruple Core 50GHz, Quintuple Video Cards, 100 Terabyte Hard Drive etc.etc., like i do, in SL anyhow etc. etc.

If anything i think you (Kiamat Dusk) were not being at all "helpful". You weren't providing much detail to the Linden at ALL. You claimed your problem is happening "everywhere" and like the Linden told you if the problem is really happening to you in every single region you try... it's very likely to be YOUR issue and not something with SL.

You didn't even tell the Linden =specific= sims the problem was happening in.

You claimed it was happening to other people. Yet you didn't give the Linden any specific names of any other people claiming to have the same problem.

You claimed that your bandwidth was "fine" yet when the Linden asked you what your bandwidth speed was you claim you are at a hotel so you don't know. SO! How can you say it's "not your bandwidth" when you don't even know what the hotel's max download speed IS??

You claim this wasn't an issue for you =until= the update. Have you been living in that hotel since =before= the update? If not - maybe your real home bandwidth and the hotel's is DIFFERENT.

To me it rather seems like you were wasting a Linden's time since you didn't provide any sort of helpful information to the Linden trying to assist you. How long, exactly, should the Linden stand around waiting for you to provide some sort of information that might actually allow them to help you? 10 minutes? 30? and hour?



Actually, now that I re-look at it, I think you're right--however, the person helping should have known that many people like Kiamat don't know how to check their bandwidth.

If a linden was rude like that to me, not only would i abuse report them, i would email [email]support@secondlife.com[/email] and phone them up about it and get that person fired. Thats no way to treat a customer, paying or not.

In SL? Hardly. I'm running a TI994A and I can't even get to these forums. I have to phone this over to my buddy's wife, who does the posting for me. Any concerns with my posts should be referred to Jon's Wife over on Belmont Ave.

I've been whining about the multibillion dollar computer owners for some time now. Good to see I'm not the only one who is less than happy with them. :D

1. Look at the timeline. Had he not dropped off in a snit I would have happily provided him with all the names of the sims I had visited as well as the names of the other people who were having the same problem. And judging by the number of complaint threads in these forums specific to this update many of them similar in nature to mine-one might be inclined to think the odds are stacked against LL.

2. I've been living in this hotel, in this same room for over a month now. Well before the latest update. And I repeat-I was fine. Again. I would have been more than happy to provide Mr. Linden with all the details he wanted had he given me a chance. I'd also like to point out the fact that I went to Live Help-not to the Linden himself. I was trying to start a the first rung because I knew the Lindens were likely overwhelmed. Please note that it took ten minutes to get a response.

And, yes, I do know how to check bandwidth. Moreover, my SL window has little meters up top for framerate and what not and they were not pegged out when I was having trouble. Add to that the fact that when I decided to post this thread I was still running SL. My pages were loading just as zippy as they always do, yet supposedly SL was throttling what little bandwidth my connection could eek out.

3. The big difference between Mr. Linden and me is that he is getting paid to be here while I am paying to be here.

All that said, this is the first instance of poor customer service I've experienced from LL, which only makes it all the more shocking.

I use 38 Commodore 64's reassembled and powered by a Ming Mecca chip vacuum sealed inside a souped up aquarium I keep on my wall. In case you're wondering, I still lag even with this awesome setup.
