New sim just like Blumfield appeared on the map (right next to Blumfield actually). I guess the Blumfield plan is working to get people to tier up.
I tried to fit as many "Blumfields" as I could in those 2 scant sentences.

A new sim 'just like blumfield' would hardly prove that giving away free land causes tiering up. If anything, it proves only that giving something freely encourages more people to want that something freely.
The lack of surprise in this is profound.

The lack of surprise in this is profound. What? It's not free. You gotta pay tier on it.

You don't pay tier on it. It counts as your tier-free 512. coco

Something fascinating I noticed about West Haven and Blumfield is they're an easy way to repro what seems to be a rendering bug. Here's how to do it: go up in the air, just high enough to be over the tops of the houses so you can still see them clearly. Then, fly around in circles, or back and forth between West Haven and Blumfield. What I see is this: doors and smaller objects stay around, but the houses and other large, linked objects disappear temporarily until they are rerezzed, somewhat sluggishly. Even after 5 minutes of flying back and forth, I still see this: Anyone else notice this?

Free accounts don't get 512 meters for "free". Don't be any more obtuse than you must. Giving zoning and housing to new members while refusing the same to everyone else unless they're willing to spring for their own sim is just stupidity.

Anyone else notice the sim name is simply "w" (on the titlebar and on the map)?

Housing is a matter of going to the GNU store and buying a home for $L1. Zoning? There is no zoning in Blumfield. It will be a bombed-out eyesore in three months.

From: Cocoanut Koala There is no zoning in Blumfield. Lack of zoning is one of the main problems facing SL. coco Why is it that people can never manage to read you literally until the one time you count on that being the case? (Rhetorical question, don't bother.) No shit there's no zoning. But Blumfield is a zoned sim in both setting and presentation. The fact that can/might/will change is irrelevant to the reality of its presentation and the fact that it will not change until new players there figure out they can change it.

I wish that they hadn't repeated the street addresses in the new section. There are now two 101 B Street, etc. One in Blumfield and one in West Haven.
Oh, and congratualations to the Blumfield Lady Bulldogs' volleyball team on their stunning defeat of the West Haven team. Go Blumfield Bulldogs!
