Attention Estate Managers - Critical Bug

There is a bug in the estate management tools, under Debug - Get Top Scripts. Selecting one from the list and then clicking "Return Selected" will return ALL of the scripted objects in the entire sim.

This bug was discovered in Taco about three hours ago. There may be more bugs in the estate management interface as well that I'm not aware of yet. I have already submitted a bug report for this particular one.

Wow. Hopefully LL will get the message out to estate owners before entire sim-fulls of content are lost. I have noticed a curious thing in the ban list, there are bunches of question marks there. I don't know if it has any impact on functionality, but something is definately up.

We've got this entered.

It's showstopper priority and I am forwarding it to the expertise of QA and the devs.

What's in our file:

*** VERY IMPORTANT: TEST THIS IN AN EMPTY REGION WITH NO PRECIOUS CONTENT AROUND ***

Very nasty stuff--


REPRO:
Rez some scripted objects.
Go to World menu > Region/Estate.
Click "Get Top Scripts".
Select ONE object from that list, and click "Return Selected" button.

OBSERVED:
ALL objects in that list get returned. In other words, every single scripted object in a region (!).

EXPECTED:
ONLY that objects you selected should get returned.


This happens under both "Get Top Colliders" and "Get Top Scripts.

what about the (???) (???) issue? i found that you cannot remove these from either the ban list or the estate managers list. i'm not in world so i can't file a bug report on this.

They did request that i bug report it. I laughed for 20 minutes over that. still am!

While they are fixing this maybe they could fix the bug that makes "Disable Selected" not work? (well it works if you are a Linden, but otherwise not). I've submitted this bug a dozen times with no response...

up until now, there was no way to remove all scripted objects with one click

i beg of LL to reconsider this wonderful new addition to the toolset

Doesn't sound the same, Torley. I see no mention of the (???) (???) items in the list that can't be removed. I also have noticed that there are some names missing from the lists (maybe they're replaced by the question mark boobies), but it seems to be consistent each time I look at it.

Torley, could you rename this "showstopper" to something original and not something that sounds gay. I mean really.... maybe like "fatal error" or something but showstopper makes me think of circuses and makes the BUG seem like a joke.

Still working on a repro for this, Tony--just wanted to let you know it certainly hasn't been forgotten about.

Wowie. And to think I was just considering upgrading to premium, given my new teeny little business I've started.

Between this and all of the other bugs, though ...

Maybe not now. Maybe I'll wait a little while and see if things get fixed first.

I'd heard that the "return ALL when Return Selected" bug is fixed.. but there are still problems in the Estate Tools.

If you select a script and press "Show Beacon" the Beacon will go to some other script. (Bug report turned in today on this). I've not had the guts to actually try Return Selected to see if it gets the right script or not, in fear of returning every scripted object on the sim.

And, that oldie but classic goodie is still with us, upon selecting a script (or collider) and pressing "Disable Selected" nothing happens - unless your last name is Linden, that is. MANY bug reports submitted on this one so far... would 1 report per day help?

Very sorry about the frustration on this.

I'll let you know firsthand that the "oldie but classic goodie" is in our list of things to fix. It is a confirmed issue, so no need for more bug reports. It's marked as a critical issue so hopefully it'll be gotten to as soon as possible.

Anyone wishing to have any of the estate features tested I have a currently 0 prim island, "DeathMatch Island" and would be happy to try anything you need. Simply IM me in-world and if I'm there I'm happy to set up whatever parameters are necessary.

This island will not be developed for a week and a half so if you do have any concerns don't hestiate to contact me.
