Oh yes... If I've scrolled up in the Chat History window, it's because I'm looking for something - DON'T force the scroll position back down to the bottom just because somebody has said something. See popular IRC client 'mIRC' for an example of correct behaviour in this regard. _____________________

One other problem I've noticed in chat is it makes me wait to press enter now to send the text. I can type as fast as I want, but if I press enter right afterwards nothing happens. This is a real pain in busy conversations when trying to keep up with the flow, and get the text out -while it still matters.- Or also typing something, then look at it 5 minutes later and realize it never sent because of that.
On a positive note, thank you for fixing the chat history button so it doesn't keep focus when you click on it, so you can click it, then go right back to typing without having to click back to the chat bar. |

I could define most of the changes made in the last few updates "Shortsighted" to say the least. I would add the following: To the linden that decided to have an absolutely useless (and damaging) update each week: Stop smoking bad stuff please. ![]() _____________________

still cant select past the end of visible text on a line, and when i tried, i ended up with about 8 charachters showing up on the input line that would randomly contain information from other parts of the ui, such as the clock, linden balance, etc and flip and shuffle around like really cheesy 'encrypted' text on a sci-fi channel movie of the week.

Linden STILL has not adressed a very critical bug which is allowing inventory items held in personal inventory and in sales vendors to reset thier own permissions to full. This has gone on through several updates, has been reproduced, and it DOES allow content theft since all permisions are enabled on the items that show said shift. This costs content creaors time, effort and L's. They need to stop worrying so much about shiny new toys and adding bugs and program instability and fix the existing issues instead of just making empty promises about slowing down on major bug releases to shut us up. Get a QA dept guys cause if you have one, they sure as he** ain't working on thier jobs.
/139/b6/126495/1.html Yeah right, bugs get fixed weekly. Is that why some of them have been around for over a year now untouched? |

To the Linden who broke the use of the mouse scroll wheel in chat history: Fix it, it works everywhere else, why just not in chat history? You broke it, fix it. Well not every where else, the new snapshot system which allows you to pan around and zoom in and out doesnt let you use the middle mouse any more....As if it wasnt bad enough anyway. Also my own frustration. To the linden that broke text fields. Why does every single text field seem to have problems now. I keep finding that when I edit some value of a prim, value in the animations window, or when setting something for sale that I cant click on any other text fields, buttons or widgets with the mouse. It gets completely locked up. _____________________

Yes. well said katy.
The things on your list should be given priority and fixed as soon as possible. But I somehow don't think they will be. _____________________

Very well said Katy, I could not agree with you more! Off and on crashing for what seems to be no apparent reason. (Happens when doing anything or nothing very frequently-- Lindens see my crash logger- I have had loads of them for like 2 months now after buying a new graphics card, new drivers etc). Ha! you think thats bad?? I crash about 10 times a day and out of those 10 times, my crash logger crashes 7 of them, so LL only receives my crash reports 3 out of every 10 times! LOL |

To the Linden(s) who think the Love Machine is a professional way to develop
I appreciate the desire to want to make developers productive by letting them focus on fun projects that they are passionate about. Who wouldn't want to work in that environment? The problem is, there are lots of not so fun projects that need fixed. A complex system like Second Life, at the stage it is at, needs a clear, profesisonal, solid development plan with milestones, rock solid QA, and community input in setting priorities. Detachable menus, fading pie menus, and Matrix stop action photo modes are all well and good, but not at the expense of making current functionality more complicated (or just removing it altogether in favor of more complicated functionality with less functionality). No one is ever going to agree on the true priorities, but there are a couple fundamental ones that seem to be missed: 1) Quit breaking things that work. 2) The build tools, above all else in SL, must be fixed - they have been broken for far too long for such important functionality. Nearly everything in SL involves their use in some way, and there is no excuse for the number of bugs that remain. I stopped teaching building and building in SL altogether because of how unstable the build tools are. I got tired of prims moving, things resizing, disappearing, or just not behaving as intended. 3) Progress is not adding complexity - the snapshot UI is an example of techinical overkill. If you wanted to add all these options, they should have been put into an advanced settings tab - they should not be the primary interface. The origianl interface was clean, unobtrusive, and has worked beautifully forever. The new funtionality is not only more complicated, it lacks functionality that the previous version had. 4) The more you allow the interface to be customizable and interacted with, the more users will develop their own solutions to problems. I know this requires fundamental restructuring of the system, but it is a model that worked beautifully for World of Warcraft and could do wonders for allow people to improve their experience themselves while taking a load off of developers. 5) Do not add things that change current behavior, especially long standing behavior, without making it optional. The new chat changes are an example - you have people hopping all over the place because someone thought an arbitrary change was for the better. It wasn't. Give people choice. 6) Give more than lip service to user input. The users themselves are Linden Lab's best resource for development input - we actually use the tools far more than LL does collectively. Make things like the voting tool more meaningful, and let us be part of the process. You can't please everyone, but you can get a feel for what priorities are outside of Linden Lab. 7) Communicate - Linden Lab has always been open, but you can never have enough communication. _____________________

From vacation in Indiana, without having time to read everything, I sign this, and agree with Katikiwi, and Cristiano.
The chat thing is really an enormous pain, and looks ludicrous. Please fix building things as well; I can't imagine anyone starting off to be a builder now. Please bring back the old camera system as an option. Ty. coco _____________________

/signs up alts. To the lindens who made unverified accounts WHY!!!!!!!???????? Just WHY!... I noticed that holding control when hitting enter doesnt make you shout anymore... Now you have to manually click the button. The imediate returning object bug has plagued Sl since 1.11 first came out in preview, and is still here even though many of us have bitched about it you still just brush us off like it's not a problem! PLEASE FIX THIS CRAP! _____________________
