I think its interesting how the fashion scene in SL has evolved since comments were taken away from the new products. It forced us to go outside the forum to get feedback. Now we have a few fashion review blogs and even more upcoming. I personally love seeing them.

Where are they? Perhaps posting them might be a benefit for shoppers of SL.

I think it's great too Nylon, I love reading them. Leave it to the creative minds in SL to find better ways of being heard. Here are some that I know of.

Second Style Fashionista involved with Second Style Magazine

Linden Lifestyles

Pixel Pinup

Those are some devoted to the fashion world of SL. There are several others that discuss furniture, architecture, etc. If you check the fansites forum you can find several :).

Yeah it is absolutely cool. Nice thread subject Nylon!

I have been working on a new site for my SL store and life. I am too lazy to keep a blog going, but a website in general is cool. Barnes features some nice stuff in his blog, and Toast also have a really good looking site.
My stuff was also featured in a few blogs, one of them is secondstyle.
I really like reading blogs where people say "I found this lil beauty in that or this spot, can you imagine?!" because we often disregard certain spots and they have in fact, some items you'd love, hidden under all that bling :O

Yeah, I totally think it's funny how all these 3rd party websites (including, er, mine) are coming out of the woodwork. It's a Good Thing(TM)! We can actually take control of the fashion industry now instead of relying on the forums for feedback about a product.

Enter >> fashion reviewers.

I like sl related blogs of all kinds. And websites. I wish there was a way to integrate them with our in-world profiles somehow. Maybe a button in our profile window that would take people to our own websites that we've created, instead of just the web addresses everyone has in the white box now.

Has anyone complied a comprehensive listing of them anywhere? That'd be a nifty listing to peruse I'd think. ^.^ Or at least better than all the "omgzwtfbbq" threads du jour.

As to integration weren't they supposed to have been working on some web-based profile system (related to the publish to web button an all)?

maybe not 'fashion' but its the same response to the comments in New Products being closed, im a whore for furniture and prefabs.

I see my blog as a place where i can not only comment on things i see in new products but more so feature things I find in world. I kind of have a niche taste for clean classic modern/retro design that can be hard to find in SecondLife so I love sharing when i find something nice. Mine was actually inspired off a RL blog that i read:

Oops, missed this thread!

Heya! Totally missed this thread until it turned up in our referral logs. Oops.

Anyway, it's really encouraging to see how many people are interested in reading off-world commentary about in-world fashion. I really wasn't sure there would be uptake - I didn't know if designers would want to send stuff in for review, didn't know if people would be interested in reading - but I've been delighted by how enthusiastic people on both sides have been.

I am loving that there's a little off-world fashion industry all of a sudden. The mix of designers who are blogging about their own products, designers blogging about other people's products, and review sites is an exciting mix. And I think it's particularly cool these blogs are being read - not just written - by such notable SL designers. That rocks!

I've already got most of the sites listed here linked up on our Links sidebar, and will update soon to add the ones I missed. But I think a links repository is a good idea too. I'll work on that with input from everyone else if there's interest and someone else isn't already doing it :)

Ok we have added two sections of links to Linden Lifestyles. Group Dividends lists websites from the broader SL community. Edit Create is a links to the growing list of fashion designers who are blogging about their own designs.

If you'd like your link to be added to the Edit Create section, here's the post where you can add your URL in the comments:

http://lindenlifestyles.com/?p=116

Thanks!

Yes Nylon..i love them to but now i notice there are 4 fashion mags and blogs that show the same designs day after day and cater to the more popular shops and heck with the new designers, my items are never mentioned along with others.. not like i need the advertisement :) my items sell very well without the blogs. that's my feelings regarding the fashion pages subject.

Actually, I recently did an article on prim skirts and dresses, one of yours was mentioned on there.

I do hear you about new designers and I do need to get out there and have a bit of a scout about and leave my land for once, as I was thinking the same thing myself recently. I guess we (I speak for myself here) just write about what we see, what we buy, what we come across etc. A lot of new designers don't know about the forums, but saying that I have noticed a number of new designers starting to post! and I will be winging my way past their stores soon! I know personally I just write the articles and bits I do in my spare time and for fun so usually its about things I have just bought, really catch my eye etc etc...

Maybe its time for a whole new designers revolution!

You're too speedy :p I edited!

Just so you know, I'm not psychic - I can't cover your stuff if I don't know you're out there! On our blog, in our SLX announcement post, and in our SL forums announcement post, we invited anyone to send us a landmark or drop stuff on us. The Submit Your Stuff link is on the upper right of every page on our site:

http://lindenlifestyles.com/?page_id=6

In no way do I have a "heck with the new designers" attitude - I love (and prefer) to promote great new finds rather than tread the same popular ground over again. Just looking at our current front page posts, I'd never come across Moon Godess, Adri, Jeepers Creepers or Retro Rama before we blogged them. But then, outside the Big Ten, I don't really know who's popular, or care that much, and I never trawl the forums for content.

But if you're new, or want exposure, you need to promote yourself. Speaking for Linden Lifestyles, we'd be happy to hear from you!

That's just not true at PXP me & Lo constantly look for new designers & make a point out of not just posting about the usual names. Just the other day I posted about Fatal Raine, who'se new & unknown. & that's just one example. I keep my eyes open all the time for new people & so does Lo.

& I don't know why you name yourself with the 'new designers' as you are not one. So I don't realy understand your complaint.

anyway I totaly agree that I love all the new magazines as I feel there is a big community of fashion lovers & with the new product replies gone we have where to go now to discuss things. Things that go even beyond new products.

In fact me & Lo's PXP magazine lets you reply to posts, & were going to add forums.
So that people could discuss fashion & not just read a post & reply.
(not that there's anything wrong with that, blogs are great, so put down the knives)

AND ALSO I noticed the metaverse messenger started doing a section about fashion.
& the SL Herald I saw has something too but I don't realy read it so.. No clue on the specifics. :)

I don't want to speak for Canimal, but I think the point is that your observations are not accurate :)

I agree that we do see the same names over and over often, but I can only speak for PXP (because I write for them) and the reason is that: WE ACTUALLY POST WHAT WE LIKE, not everything that comes out... New products is there for that.
Not our fault if well known people keep putting out very impressive stuff! LOL

But as Canimal pointed, don't know for others, but we pulled many new designers or unknown stuff out of the hole.
Actually, I have a column that is called "elka finds" and it's dedicated EXACTLY to that, stuff you don't hear about. So far I only got the time to post two, but it will come.
I have interviewed a totally unknown hair designer that is as good as all the big ones, and I can't wait to finish my article. I blogged about {JUNK} jewels, that are 100% new.
I blogged about that Egyptian boutique where they sell vases, totally unknown... etc.
When you put out something that make our jaws fall, rest assured that we will blog too!
That's how it goes or then we'd just become a place where we say "ok look this is out" instead of "this is what i like, because, and etc" : )
