The coordinates used for the Webmap are based on our grid system for positioning regions. If you are curious what position corresponds to which XY coordinate, please use this application. The last link in that paragraph is broken.. http://secondlife.com/apps/services/mapapi/x Doesn't point to anything. .. _____________________

The last link in that paragraph is broken.. http://secondlife.com/apps/services/mapapi/x Doesn't point to anything. .. $newx = $x / 256; $newy = ($y / 256); Seems to work. ![]() _____________________

It just seems to be returning the XY Coords.
http://secondlife.com/apps/services/mapapi/locator-app.html Is it supposed to use Adam's formula above? _____________________

OK, next question -- can we get a method to set a specific style on the marker window?

With this new api in hand, we encourage you to remix away. We've tried to develop with the idea that everything we can do, you should be able to do as well. Hold that thought. ![]() _____________________

The marker window is definitely harder to customize, so this isn't trivial. If someone has a good idea of how to do this I'm all ears.

For those of us that do EVERYTHING inside of SL, can we have a way to get at the map textures inworld and have various LSL functions with it? Or is this only for outworld folks?

Ok, along those lines, can we get access to the events and land for sale like you have on the front page? Hey blaze, you read our minds. You'll be able to do this with web services very soon |

I'm not terribly familiar with Javascript, but I assume that if I wanted to cause a marker to open a secondlife:// address, then I would replace the alert() call here with something else:
CODE // creates a function that we will bind to the double click action Anyone want to tell me what the something else would be? (I can handle converting the coordinates myself) _____________________

Nicole, you cannot view land for sale on these maps. We will soon provide a service to get information about parcels for sale.
Dyne, if you want to link to a second life coordinate currently, you'll need find out the region name and the local coordinates (0-256), then form the link as: <a href="secondlife://region_name/local_x/local_y>link name</a> For example: <a href="secondlife://Europa/114/44">Link to Europa</a> |
