SL exchange has essentially some of the worst support i've seen. When someone was *fradulently* claiming to sell something i've made (the item was no transfer, they were only able to 'list' the help notecards that came with it) they actually yelled at *ME* and told me to register so i could put up a 'complaint' on the page so that people wouldn't be ripped off.

Hello? if you *KNOW* people are being ripped off, have the power to remove that entry, and expressly refuse to, does that not imply that you are complicit with that?

So no, slexchange does not care, will not care, and its pretty much fine if anyone rips off players there with outright lies, or just dishonest reselling of previously free items, etc. They just want their few percent, and honestly don care.

P.S. any time they actually do want to improve their image, those items are *STILL* listed, still ripping people off who then come to *ME* for support, and could very very easily be removed. A quick mouse click could easily stop alot of people from bein frustrated/angry.

Eltee, your best solution is not to register on SLX and complain. Tell all the stiffed customers to do it! They already have an account and they have greater numbers behind them to drive the fraudster out. If you want to help out, you can give them a sympathetic discount to buy the real thing, but this isn't your fault so you aren't obligated.

As for overcharging on freebies, it can't be helped. What do you expect the site ops to do, check every single item that goes up for sale? To see if they can think of a free alternative? To ask around if there's another product it's ripping off? Do you expect merchants to give away copies of all their stuff so it can be examined and picked apart first, even if the admins had the time to deal with that?

It's distasteful, but the only real alternative is to make free stuff more visible. Post a URL or in-world coordinates in the seller's reviews; you get the added benefit of raising awareness for that particular item until the sale gets pulled. This is not a situation where more policing will help, when the USERS have the ability to make a difference and fail to. Market forces prevent me from selling a pack up gum for $20, they should also be used to control prices on things that should be negligible.

Yes, many freebies there. Funny thing is he protects his own interests by "watermarking" the online versions of the images he's selling, even though I'm 99.999% certain he's not the copyright holder.

Is there anything on there which *isn't* a freebie? Twelve pages of them! Hoverboard, "FIC YOU" t-shirt, X-Flight... surely having X-Flight there is a blatant contravention as that's been explicitly stated as not for resale.

You know, I put alot of work into a webpage that reviews new products posted in the NP forums and on the webvendor sites like SLX. I provide, in so doing, a free service to the SL community, and ALOT OF FREE ADVERTISING. I'm not paid a single fucking LInden for this.

Given the amount of fuss raised by OTHER PEOPLE, INCLUDING MANY OF THE MAJOR CREATORS IN SL, this idea that I'm "witch-hunting" is ASININE.

Selling free items isn't something the Lindens can/should be watching, it's no priority when compared with copyright issues that are acutally costing someone money. You *can* keep your free stuff from being redistributed, just make sure owners know where it came from so they can tell their friends, and then pinch the permissions to be unmoddable. Not reasonable? Welcome to the conundrum of open source.

If you're mad about free things being sold, hit the leech where it hurts- Plop down the free thing within sight of theirs, and they'll still have to pay for merchant space for something that is now worthless.

Nah but i do expect once the fact that the sale is fradulent/a scam has been *acknowledged* by the site's operators/support that they at least pretend to actually do something about it, for the good of their own image if nothing else.

It would be sort of like ebay saying 'yes we know this person is not going to ship you a laptop but infact is going to ship you a piece of paper with 'ibook' written on it, like his last 37 auctions that you showed us, but we don't care, if you don't like it, why don't you post a negative comment on his profile?'

Theres a fine line between just not having the time to address a problem's existance, and actually knowing/seeing the problem when its been pointed out, and not caring, and slexchange, has made amply clear on which side of that line they stand

I was able to access it maybe once in the entire time I've known about it.

She came to my attention first by basically saying anyone who had a gun in SL was immature and stupid.

Then she insulted a co-Caledonian and basically accused her of pandering to pervs...

So she can go stomp her wee feet all she likes. I bit my tongue long enough because a mutual friend spoke up for her, but ffs.

Enough's enough. It's not like anyone asked her to crusade.

Personally, I think it might be nice if they did pull items that merely appeared to be ripoffs. It's hard to tell if something is an exact replica or not, but getting an item delisted from the site isn't the end of the world, it just means the seller has to find another venue. Realistically, SLX/SLB are businesses and they're going to hesitate to throw sales out like that, but in your case I think there should be enough angry buyers to eject the seller. I don't really know what can be done to resolve the problem beyond adding a line like 'SLExchange supports fraud and I won't sell there' to your store's info notecards. Maybe after enough bad press they'll start to turn around.

I agree totally! In the time I have been reading the forums I have seen so many posts about stuff that is suppose to be the biggest POS in game, yet she also stated she cant get in game because her dinoputer was outdated by a previous update. So how can you make assumptions about something if you cant see it in world? I mean pictures speak thousands of words but I would rather see it first hand then make a statement about it.

Honestly, I think you did find an actual (in my opinion) thief in this instance, but few people are going to take you seriously because so many simply don't want to listen to you anymore. The way you speak to people is what makes them not want to hear what you say. Take a look at your own words sometime. Would you want to listen to someone who sounded so hostile all the time?
As to your products review on your website, I don't see free advertising, I see more hostility. At least I did the last time I read it. I saw in quite a few places you openly insulted someone's work, another person's profesionalism, mocked someone else for not sending the right type of picture. As I read it I remember thinking "I hope none of these people asked her to review them" and "I hope she never tries reviewing my work, no ty".

I did that. I set down my own prims in a freebie resellers store/yard sale/whatever, with the items she was selling (MY items) for hundreds of L$ and I priced them at 0L$, setting the boxes right next to her vendor. I got an IM from her informing me she was ARing me. I never heard anything about it but apparently I was ARed.

That's what I wondered. I can't see how that is fair to the creator. I also question the motivations of a person who can't even log on to SL, but continues to launch witch hunts and only ever seems to post to belittle someone. It's not a polite question, when your question has the effect of publicly accusing someone without actual evidence. And it's not a service when you trash someone's product, without even doing them the courtesy of actually seeing the product.
