Does how long I am banned for contingent on what I've done wrong?
How many warnings do I get before I screw up and get banned?
Just wondering, i would say i got into trouble once already, but i don't know if i can say that so i wont :D

Welcome to the dark side. There is no rule about how many times you get informal warnings you get before you get a formal one, or how many formal warnings you get before you get suspended, etc. They just give them out as they want to.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, though, as most people manage to hang around the forums and game even after having gotten suspended.

I personally take a very philosophical attitude about it. (a) Since I have never in my life been in trouble anywhere for ANYTHING, except, of course, here, I figure it must be a sort of a badge of honor to get in trouble here. As a criminal myself, I figure being a criminal here must be a good thing. (b) Secondly, I figure if they really do want to boot good people out of the game for what they say on the forums, I figure they will deserve what they get and get what they deserve, in terms of their residents. Their loss, in other words.

I take an active stand on the matter. This stand is simply to stay out of trouble. The most important element of this is resisting the urge to make a reaction fueled by anger or panic.

When in anger or panic one's mental faculties are severely screwed. This is not a good time to make posts or talk because one is bound to make heaps of mistakes. One should cool down and assess the situation as clinically as can be. Only then is it safe to start talking.

One does not need to know the penalties or how the penal system works if one does not run afoul of the rules at all.

When in doubt, err on the conservative side.

It would be a more than excellent investment of time to find the pattern of how the goof ups get initiated. There usually is. Finding that pattern of behavior can be life changing even iRL.

I think my goofing has to do with not knowing the rules.. Nor wanting to read every rule there is.. For example you can't talk about something be moved, didn't know that.. Got a warning, I almost got another in trouble by asking for a name :/

So the only behaviour pattern I can see is the nonchalent attitude I have on reading the rules..

Ha ha ha, I don't think I have, at all.

Now when I was a KID I would get in trouble, but I'm such an upstanding white bread straight person otherwise, I bore myself senseless.

Fiddle dee dee. Anger and panic have nothing to do with it.

Wait till you run afoul of a rule you never dreamed you were running afoul of, and know the one who did much worse and more often than you has run free, and then come talk to me about it, why dontcha.

coco

P.S. I don't want to go on any further about this, because we're fixing to go on vacation, and I don't want it spoiled by somebody giving me a warning or a suspension. So don't get me started on "patterns."

I must admit that the only time I have ever been in "trouble" in SL was when I had confirmed beforehand that I would not get into trouble. Thus, based on that, I would say that the best way to avoid problems is not to ask permission for anything. Though there might be a flaw in that interpretation of my situation.

If you mean the forum messages? Based on what I read somewhere here I think it was Strife's post that mentioned that the admins do the deleting based on recommendations from the mods.

Can't, too many. But I will try to name as many as I can think of.

1. Not reading the rules.
2. Thinking that what you're doing is an exception.
3. Misreading the rules.
4. Attempting communication when angry.
5. Attempting communication when panicked.
6. Attempting communication while harboring a feeling of being persecuted.
7. Not re-reading ones posts.
8. Not asking for the proper protocols for sensitive communication.
9. Attempting communication while intoxicated, sleepy, depressed, or overly excited.
10. Rushing communication
11. Overreacting

I'm sure there are more.

BINGO! One of the most important things in life that most people don't want to believe or learn.
