So renting a condo is an event now ?

It was dire last time I looked, but now it's even being used to advertise rentals. wtf ?

Using the events list to advertise a 2 week long building event is plainly a complete waste of time and effort.

Perhaps it's time to get rid of it altogether. What's the point in wasting the bandwidth to get pages full of .... [4 letter words edited]

Have youseenthe event listing resently( Ok you have ) But for those taht have not.OMG yard sells, and alot of non event happenings. What happened to Jesse Lindens monitoring hte event listing? I thought Yard sales were not allowed on the any more on the events listins? I could be wrong but it does seem things are getting out of control and Yes Laukosargas I been seeing the condo posting more on the boards these days. Its not nice to "think of four letter words" maybe "Cake" is a yummy thought thats better......... But really i understand your concern

Laukosargas, i seen this countless times ( to make me THINK i am having blonde moments ) Oh gesh posting event then renting or even selling( have you seen the selling skybox ads on the event listings ) that alone had me giving myself to the farmer to be cooked hehhe. Maybe your right its time to do away with event listing and replace them with person payed ads ( yes pay to post your event ) 10l or or even more lindens depending on the type of event posted..... The current system is not working and we need a fix.

I never read events.. Ive tried it a few times in the past but all i saw was Tringo, Slingo, Sex Party, Tringo, Casino, Camping, Yard Sale, Tringo, Spam, Porn Theatre, Win 500L, Tringo Spam, Spam Yard Sale, Best Dressed Dance in spam, Blackjack, Poker Spam, Tringo, Yard Sale, Spam, Slingo, Soaked Girls Wrestling in spam, Nude Beach Party, Tringo, and Spam.

No need for Zorro, a Lewis would do... I've already volunteered and suggested an events calender 'resmod' style, where we can go through and mark what we consider violations for Linden removal if necessary.

Granted, there may be a fine line between OK and not ok on some events, but clear 'non events' like "Rent my condo" reposted 6 times in a row in 3 hour back to back sessions are exactly what the 'classifieds' are for.

Currently there are 293 events in the calendar. I would guess that about 25% of those are not repeat events and 'non events'. Out of the remaining 25%, most are TeaZer's classes (which are perfectly legitimate events), which if you are not into *ingo or in need of a newbie class, doesn't actually leave much to go to.

I haven't bothered to open the events listings in over 6 months. If you're looking to do a *real* SL event, you have to set it up yourself, because finding them is impossible. And oh, don't bother listing your legitimite event, unless you just wanna help that topless dance party and SLingo event to pushed a little higher up the list...

Complaints aside, there's gotta be something we can do to sort the crap from the good stuff. First thing that comes to mind is a better categorized event list that is actually monitored. A very strict SL classes category would be nice, for example, but yeah, classes are all but gone from SL... buuuut that's a whole 'nother sad story of SL.

I dunno, maybe we'll come up with some better method... maybe... and maybe LL will apply it... maybe... but probably not. c_c

I thought it would change, and more variety would come in though it does not seem to be. You can still count the unique cultural events sometimes held on your fingers.

I think all the interesting people are just busy hiding from all the blingtards.

I didn't want to deprive attendees of the opportunity to attend other events because I'm considerate that way. And with so much happening at that time players's calendars must be packed. I've already received two notifications of cool people who are going to attend, and I've changed the "are eligible to receive a special gift" to "will receive" and hoo, boy! it is indeed special.

Has anyone else been hit with a group invite aking to join then asking for a signup fee or 100l??????

Like all good, beneficial things in SL that were wonderful where there were, oh, 5000 of us here... SL has grown far too big. Scammers and spammers are everywhere now. Time to lose the events list, just like rate mining (thanks rate whores) and developer incentives (thank you camping chairs).

There's no point in maintaining this sham any more. Let residents run their own event lists; I've already got one started. Its fairly easy, and there are a ton of free services on the web for this kind of thing.
