Second Life Known Issues Update April 22, 2006
The following is a list of known issues in Second Life:

* Keyboard stops autorepeating when renaming inventory item
* Keyboard stops autorepeating in the script window
* llTakeControls allowing rotation even if set to not pass keys
* "Busy" cursor if an error is throttled
* Mass doesn't change on attachments until region cross
* "Busy" cursor after teleporting via landmark

As you can see, the user interface has the most issues. That should tell you where to focus your bug fixes, LL...the interface is perhaps THE most important part of an application--yes, even before the 3D engine.

Pretty much the same here, but I haven't tried everything in preferences. Lately I have noticed it when changing video settings, such as draw distance

Sometimes IMing a friend who's online makes the online announcement repeat.

One of the most amusing ones I've been told about, too: Create a cube. Name it "Plywood Linden". Go to its content pane, choose "New Script" and then Save - this runs the default script, which says "Hello, Avatar". Then, try to mute the cube.

Enter x, y, and z scale values in the edit dialog fields.
If any of them is greater than 10, it will be clamped to 10.
If any of them is less than 0.010, it will be clamped to 0.010.

Now try to llSetScale(<x,y,z>;);
If any of them is greater than 10, it will be clamped to 10.
If any of them is less than 0.010, it will fail silently and the object is not resized.

I get this everyday and it's getting pretty old. It also says people are online when they aren't. I've noticed that if it states someone is online when I know they aren't, it will show them way way way off to the far left of the map if you search for them. Like they are in some secret sim somewhere that won't show.

I also haven't gotten offline IM's since a few updates ago. I have them sent to email but even then I don't get them all.

I have always hated this, why can we not change clothes without it making us stand up? I see no purpose for this and it is quite an annoyance when taking photo shoots etc.

Permissions

The Wiki says that llRequestPermissions() releases all permissions not requested.

A recent release note said that PERMISSION_TRIGGER_ANIMATION was released on standing up from an object.

Neither of these is true. It seems that the latter was tried in one preview, but it was backed out (badly) because it caused erroneous errors from programs that had requested and acquired PERMISSION_TRIGGER_ANIMATION and called llStopAnimation() on standing. When they (apparently) put it back in they ended up triggering extra run_time_permissions() events, so they rolled THAT back but seem to have again left PERMISSION_TRIGGER_ANIMATION enabled...

The former was probably backed out in similar circumstances when scripts were found to call llRequestPermissions() with a subset of the perms they already had.

I would vote on keeping the extra run_time_permissions() events and making the people who are assuming that run_time_permissions() will only be called after it's requested and always succeeds fix their scripts.

Luckily you can handle the CHANGE_LINK event in a second script and llResetScript() that instead of the big one you have state in. So there's a workaround. But sheesh.

Camera
* Trees still occasionally throw your view 180 degrees. How about only letting is select trees by the trunk or (if in edit mode) the handles? That way we don't need to worry about the leaves.

I would say this is correct behaviour given the fact that the chat bar is NOT a normal text input box.

Probably, the chat bar should become an ordinary text input box at the bottom of the chat history window when the chat history window is open. That way you have the option of no-chat, funky-chat (current), and normal-chat.

- After teleporting to a new location, one or more avatars are sometimes completely invisible - the only thing visible are any prim attachments. Avatar may eventually appear, but often times does not - other avatars may appear normal at the same time.

When closing the edit box (either on an object or land), the camera view returns to the perspective (or thereabouts) of where your avi is standing. I sooooooo wish it would stay where I had it so I don't have to find my view again.

Volume detect objects don't collide with non-physics objects

Objects with volume detect on only collide with objects such as AVs which have physics on. They don't collide with non-physics objects or the ground.

Apparently this used to work and has been broken for several releases. It's still broken in 1.9.1 (I checked).

Floating text changes

After teleporting, floating text displays a slash-n on the screen instead of a carriage return, which is what slash-n is supposed to represent.

This applies to attachments, HUDs, and in-world floating text. But it's easiest to duplicate on a HUD attachment because you can teleport yourself to make the bug appear immediately.

Use llSetText in a script to set the text to "hello/nthere/n" and you will see floating above your prim the word 'hello' and the word 'there'. But if you teleport somewhere, you will then see the word 'hello' and the word 'there' and the word '/n'.
