It's a good thing--what with the chainsaws and the coitus in the other thread . . .

:D

And they say SL is not about the sex....

Are you asking who matters, or who the prom king and queen is this month? They're rarely, if ever, the same thing.

I'll tell you who matters to me, though I don't expect to ever see them interviewed because it doesn't sell copy...

Builders that come up with something new and innovative, which makes me dust off my Edit tools to see how it was done, or how something else could be improved by their techniques.

Scriptors that take our lifeless objects and make them do something interactive and creative, something we haven't seen before.

Animators that give our creations the breath of life so seamlessly that it doesn't even occur to us that that's not a normal sit pose.

But the people who matter the most to me, (without getting too PollyAnna) are the new residents who seem excited about SL and ask lots of questions, which makes me view SL through their eyes again, and gets me excited about all this again. (It's like when my nephew comes to visit Vegas and it suddenly occurs to me, "This place is bad-ass, and I live here!";)

If you want to interview people who matter, then interview the people who have been in world a week or less, and get their persepctive on the world and the creations in it, on what they'd like to see, what they think is silly, and ask them who they think matters.

Yes.

I was going to but I realized 5 were listed in another article.

6 if you include the author :)

Serious Answer - might I suggest Ham Rambler owner of the new Dublin Sim. What that man has planned and what hes doing will change Sl in some very good ways

A warm welcome back, Trent! I think this may have the longest span between 1st and 2nd issues of an SL publication yet.

Wake me up when an article of actual worth reading is written. Subjective articles like 'who's who' lists are little more than gossip and popularity statements. I'd like more stuff and less fluff please.

I Couldn't agree more - GRAPHICA was never designed to be a 'list rag'. I aim for art and creative journalism combined (have you seen the first one?) and my goal is indeed to bring articles and peoples of interest to the forefront for a wide range of reasons.

I do hope that when issue 2 hits the stands I've found something that may 'wake you up'. Perhaps rather than calling my thread a waste of time (and adding to that) you could suggest a person of some impact you'd like to see an interview and article written with? How about you? You've been around some time - done anything folks would want to hear about?

How about "people of impact" who left SL? Seems to me that the sweet and sour approach could say a lot about the good things and about the issues, in ways that cannot be denied.

For me, I have yet to read a good in-depth article on the many builders out here. Like Starax, Fallingwater. And also ask if Toast Bard would do an interview. I find these folks interesting because they make some of the coolest stuff in SL. And their artistry is distinct from the rest. It'd be refreshing to read something where the interviewer actually picked at the person's brains, and it's not from the common list of folks who get interviewed.

As to why Ham Rambler and what he is doing. Firstly the man has commisioned the most realsitic sim created in Sl to date. It is an exact replica of the tourist sections of Dublin and Ham has not let the team building it ( and yes I lead that team) settle for anything less then exact perfection. This aim to not only re-create Dublin but to raise the bar for sim builds as well as giving SL a true meeting place and a way to learn about and experience Irish culture. I cant say yet what else is planned in Dublin in the coming months but it will be different it will be sponsored and it will be top notch.

Additonally we are doing a 14 hour musicfest April 29th featurng 12 live bands and U2 in SL as well as a fireworks display. It will make for a damn fine time and make Sl hiostory as the logestlive concert to date
