Does Jill still do that sort of thing? Seems like she is in accounting now.

I don't know Suezanne but I am playing it safe nowadays and always do a panty check when dancing in a short skirt in a PG area.

I suspect that the world is growing faster than LL can afford to hire Lindens to ensure there are always 'visible' Lindens.
I also suspect that their approach, backing off a little and being 'on call' in case of problems is actually the most efficient way of doing things.
Frankly, I'm glad I *don't* see any of the coder Lindens inworld except when they're testing things - it means they're more likely to be doing their job, coding, instead of hanging around inworld whilst they're meant to be on the job.

I suspect the Lindens have it about right - be availible (over Live Help, etc)... but don't idle around inworld. If people need you, you're there, but you're not "hanging around".
I too wish that, when a griefer attack in progress was reported on Live Help, a Linden could teleport in, see the griefers, suspend the griefers' accounts by hardware hash, log the incident and leave. That would be truly effective. I realise, though, that it's not reasonable... Lindens are busy and there are times when there is just nobody free. It's also true that the abuse team have more access to logs etc than I'd expect Liaisons to have, so if a griefer attack does occur and the griefers behave when the Linden gets there (as I'd expect to happen), it really is most efficient to file ARs and let the guys who can view the server logs look into it.

So... would I like to see more Lindens visibly inworld? Yes. Do I think it will happen? I'm not sure. Do I think it's needed? Probably not.

... wouldn't it be so much easier if, when we found a bug, we could just explain directly to a Linden who could come over, see the problem, then yell for a Linden in that department to come have a look, instead of filing a bug report and hearing nothing more about it.

No, it wouldn't. Can you imagine how many bug reports we generate on a daily basis? They'd need dozens of Lindens just to verify that it *is* a bug in the first place. I'll bet every $L in my account 1/2 of the reports aren't even bugs.

I have the notion that there is a high percentage of completely incoherent messages from people that are drunk, stoned, snorted some coke, drank too many expressos and stayed up on the computer too long, etc.

The messages my not just not be bugs, like a complaint about the programs design, but I bet they get lots of bug reports about stuff like a pair of shoes didn't fit or someone didn't really like the color outfit they bought and totally off the wall stuff like that.

I have no evidence to support this, it's just my suspicion.

As suggested, reposted from another thread which was wandering off its original topic, for further discussion and a bit of elaboration. The original post was on the thought that there are 'too many Lindens'.

I'm not sure there are "too many Lindens" considering the size and complexity of the game... personally I'd rather have a few more Lindens in customer service, dealing directly with in-world issues and talking to players. I can't think of many Lindens who started life as 'regular players', and I am sure that many of them don't actually use their 'product' in the same way that many of us do, day in day out.

Some Lindens should be more visible, and more easily found in-world, rather than simply having to file abuse reports, bug reports and suchlike... wouldn't it be so much easier if, when we found a bug, we could just explain directly to a Linden who could come over, see the problem, then yell for a Linden in that department to come have a look, instead of filing a bug report and hearing nothing more about it.

I think I've probably only seen about 5 Lindens 'in the pixel' in-world out of however many there are. Even then it comes across very much as an 'us and them' attitude. If we are ever truly to be a community, that would be a great barrier to break to start it rolling.

Lewis

People have been saying this for a while now, but there are too little lindes to notice the posts :P
