From: Belaya Statosky (P.S. What's up with the pointless pie menu animations? I could understand a fade-in/out, but jeeze...) The pie menu allows a single click and slide operation now, what is being called a gestural menu. But why does it need to start out one size and shrink if you just click and let up to produce a pie menu? I would prefer that the programmers who know how to do non-functional glitzy stuff and don't know how to anything more useful spend their time studying rather than coding non-functional effects that to many are worse than the absence of effects.

Just confirming we're aware of the requests to revert to the old Snapshot Preview behavior.
I'll include this thread too.

From: Rotary Fan How does the flash ocurring on the screen of the person taking the shot help someone else know a picture is being taken? It doesn't. I don't know why people suggest that it does. I don't want my display made to flash when other people take pictures. If one wanted to let people know that someone else is taking pictures a small icon that optionally lights up would perform the same function. It could be made to display the name of the last picture taker if you click on it; this would provide more information than just a flash.

While I am certainly pleased that they backed off from including hires pictures in postcards, I am in agreement on my disliking this change to snapshot functionality. From the very beginning, the SL client has suffered from incredibly poor UI design - it is a hodgepodge of mixed metaphors that puts far too much complexity front and center. Good UI design is adaptable and contextual. You should not need the full complexity of the build tools interface to position an attachment, for example. In the case of snapshots, this UI is a major step backward at a time they are supposed to be streamlining and improving the UI to make SL more accessible to a wide variety of users.
The previous snapshot UI was simple, straightforward, and served its purpose well since it was added in the 1.2/1.3 timeframe. There are so many other UI deficiencies, this was not one of them. So what did they replace the simple UI with? An overly complex new dialog that even long time users have to spend some time figuring out, and a nauseating and gratuitous drop away effect when you update the snapshot. None of this improves useability. The resolution and quality options could easily have been put behind an Advanced button on the current UI, instead of forcing it front and center. LL has some talented programmers, but they are severely lacking in UI design. Progress is not making something more complex.

From: Yiffy Yaffle I gues i'l be doing this from now on... Say goodbye to fullscreen mode. :/ Use the Secret Keys, Yiffy! ^_^ Hit Control-Alt-1 to toggle hiding all UI elements. THEN use the Printscreen key.

Please please please please please please please bring back the old way. Or at least: - trash the flash
- optionalize the full screen preview - can't see who's talking or what's going on around you when you're taking photos and frankly I don't need them to be that big, because....
- they're all fuzzy in snapshot preview anyway.
Yes, I asked all this in preview grid too. Thanks Torley for getting this to the right people.

I like the new snapshot functionality. I have to agree with the sentiment of getting rid of the annoying glitzy effects though. The flashing, the weird effect when you update the snapshot, the picture dropping it away, PLEASE make it optional!
Also, what the hell is this gestural pie menu nonsense? Is it just me or does it only go one level deep? That ain't gestural, yo. If it was truly gestural it'd traverse the menus too.
