I wonder how much of that could be hidden by invisiprims.

well i can't tell if its griefing or just an ugly mall. Sometimes you have to deal with ugly builds-they often go away all on thier own. If you want to control the builds around you, advocate zoning. Otherwise-it is thier land.

I think the person in post #2 had the answer. And nothing would need to be banned or disallowed. Just let us "turn off" or not rez what we personally find offensive, and let everyone build whatever they like.

Agreed...come on LL's....step up.......! Allow turning off rendering on other's land. It doesn't affect anyone's right to build whatever they like, and more importantly, doesn't impinge on the pleasures of landowners to enjoy their own land too! Simple and caters for all... the afflicted, the griefers, and the libertarians!!

I think the issue is very clear.
If the land is sold at a price which falls within normal levels, then the person concerned just has a rather poor eye for building. If the land is sold at a price with is a long way above normal levels, then it is extortion. _____________________

What a mess. I agree something should be done about this. I moved from my last location because someone purchased the land right next to mine and put up a monstrosity of an island that butted right up to my deck. It totally destroyed the atmosphere of the place. As soon as the land was put up for sale this person snapped it up. Their griefing tactics to get my land were 100% effective.

What price did you sell your land at? Assuming your build was, like mine, normal, I'd turn the tables on the land griefers. My first land was 'griefed out' by an overpowering full bright purple building (which funnily enough has since disappeared), so I set it for sale at almost twice the average value, and they bought it because they wanted to expand. At least I made 'em pay for the privilege of screwing with and inconveniencing me. Lewis _____________________

Sounds like a new form of anti-bush all over again.
The previous solution for that was to simply place a large wall between the offending structure. Unforutnately ... that eats prims. Espcecially if you need to cover a large section. If enough community action is levied against a person, then something can be done about it, however; this case doesn't appear to have the same leverage that the Anti-Bush Sign War (c) did. _____________________

The land sold for what I originally paid for it. I wanted to jack the price up because I knew it was a griefing tactic being used but the decision on selling wasn't mine alone. I agree jacking up the price is as good a way as any to handle land griefers right now. If people want to be asses let them pay for the privilege!

Land Associations?
04-13-2006 09:06
When one buys property in the Real World, there are usually standards....for ex....people have ASSOCIATIONS...you BUY into this, KNOWING that certain things can NOT go up..EYE SORE things. There are beautiful houses all around, however if someone suddenly puts up a craphole of a pole shed on the edge of their land...right in your view...it would be Offensive and a Violation of the Associations standards. They would have to remove it, because they agreed to the Association...
Although Associations can have their neg. effects too..the small print..the neighbors ganging up on neighbors..BUT...if you BUY in an area where there are Rules on the land..then you WILLINGLY do so. It may be an idea to have those kinds of RULES for certains Sims....SIM ASSOCIATIONS? People therefor can choose. I bought my land a few months ago...and NO ONE as around me..i had ONE neighbor...now suddenly there is a Military Base ON THE BORDER of my property....which, I don't totally mind, but i also live near protected land..and there are MANY griefers on mature land...especially Near places where MILITARY is involved. Anyway...............signs are up....eyesore signs...crappy lookin cars behind my land, boxes floating in mid air with ugly advertisements....So, yes...I think there should be some STANDARD set...Certain land for Advertising...certain land where those of us who BUY and PAY for this land, can have what we Deserve. Where once there was beauty...there is now Industry Bullcrap, media trash, etc.....would be nice to have a place, you can be FRee from griefers and bored adults who have nothing better to do than start wars in regions made for peace and enjoyment. _____________________

Shadow contacted me in-game and told me that the signs are gone and the land is owned by someone else. Either someone bought the land, or LL took it and gave it to someone.
