From: Eggy Lippmann Believe it or not, I applied to become a Linden... in Beta! And I applied again over a year ago. At one time, I was even invited. But then they never said anything again. They just don't like me See, no matter what anyone comes up with, Eggy will always post with "I already did that in beta".

Actually, the first time I applied was indeed in Beta. I'm ashamed to admit it but I was sort of doing it for the free account The second time around I really meant it though!

Which came first, the chicken or the eggy (in beta)? The chicken always comes first. That's why the egg never gets to come at all.

From: Ingrid Ingersoll Actually, Eggy already posted THIS EXACT POST in beta. One thing I definitely didn't do very much in Beta was post The forums were practically empty, I didn't know anyone here, and I was sort of shy.

Just to be official and all that yadda-yadda-yadda I didn't have any land holdings as Torley Torgeson, nor did I have an inworld business of any kind. As a watermelon spirit, I lived off the land and the generosity of Residents!

No, really - "Who Wants to be a Linden"
01-12-2006 11:54
Pardon me for joining this post a little late, but however funny the Who Wants to be a Linden joke was (and it was very funny) it's really not that bad of an idea. I've seen ads for a Television and Movie Studio. The winner gets Linden "God" powers and a big stipend for a couple of weeks after winning. Weekly challenges can include building, scripting, texuring specialty's, start with like 20 - 25 people and get rid of 2 people every episode - one voted out internally the other voted out by a viewers poll. I also think it would be a good test for the video capabilities of the system. We would need one "cameraman" for each contestant to capture (and also direct) their footage to be passed to a superviing editor to compile. We would need Linden support for the God powers (and to possibly host the video stream) and sponsors to cover the prizes, but I think it's a reasonable goal.

Me too. I think there should be a "what's behind curtain number 3" prize for those who don't make it though. You know... the Proctor Silex Bomb-Bathtub combination that no one really wants or needs.

OK, the obvious choice is Barnesworth Anubis-Linden, Emperor of SL. Like, I'm so sure anyone else was even considered. Guuuyee. And, of course that makes me one by marriage so it's a true win-win!

From: Chris Wilde I normally would guess someone like Aimee. But I wonder if people that run a business in SL would have to cease such activities to become a Linden to avoid conflicts of interest? I am assuming Torley had no in world business. No some of the new Lindens have in world businesses, and they openly advertise it. That guy who has the SL notary business is now a Linden and is throwing that bit of info around to impress under the guise of insisting he has no conflict of interest. Trouble is no one asks and he still talks about it. Undue influence? Power trip? Ego? All of the above? I noticed another new Linden added a SL business to his picks on day one, even before he put a picture or text in his profile. That was incredibly obvious. Conflict of interests? ha ha ha ha ha Lets say its unprofessional at a minimum. I dont understand the ego/power trip associated with being hired to serve members, or the awe members have for Lindens. Its not like Linden employees were chosen by Donald Trump at the end of the Apprentice, or competed and won a plumb residency or judicial clerkship. Liasons are merely customer service representatives here to serve us...like the cable guy, or the kid who answers the phone when you call Dell computers.

From: Rickard Roentgen Anshe Linden. aw, someone had to Forget "a" Linden... she will be "the" Linden. She will eventually buy out LL in a hostile takeover and dub herself "Mama Linden".

However, I don't really need to be officially named that, as I just AM that, wherever I am! coco

On a more topic-related note, I've been a CSR in an MMO (Guide in EQ, not a GM but people wanted us to be, oy) and currently do technical support (and have for several years! Sanity was overrated anyways) I could possibly do the job. Dunno!
