This is more of a rant than anything else. Here's the scenario.
Abandoned vehicle stuck at the corner of 4 sims, somehow they all gravitate towards this spot for some reason... sticking out of my house, and generally unpleasant looking. This isn't the first time this has happened, but people are nice and come get their crap quickly. I do not own the land it's on, and the owner of the land has their account on hold. I have politely messaged said person to come and grab their vehicle off my land several times without any response.
Reply #1 - maybe a month into this annoyance "just return object to me" -Launch into complicated reason that I cannot and that they have to come and get it.
Wait another month.
Finally, I say... can you come and get it, hell I'll give you $500L to come and get it.
Pretty soon, I get messages, "teleport me", "where are you", even though I gave them exact locations of the sims. Finally they and I are on at the same time, so I teleport said person. They come and get the vehicle, and this is what they say...
"ok i moved it, give me my $500 bones f*cker"
I said, "Why are you being so rude, it's not my fault that you leave your garbage lying around. This isn't my problem."
-Said person launches into hostility mode, "you liar", "this isn't how you should do business with people", "i don't deal with liars", "if you won't pay, i'm putting it back", and begins rezzing every vehicle they have in their inventory back to the same location.
Fine, I'll cave to this ass... gift $500L of my EARNED money to person, and tell them thanks for being such a bitch, move your crap. Vehicles disappear, and poof, they are gone. One minute later, I get the message to grab newly placed objects as they will be returned due to rollback from patch. D'OH. I was about to orbit them, but I like to keep my record clear of ARs, because I'm sure they would file one.
Sorry long story, had to rant somewhere while the grid is still down. Peace.
*** GOD DAMN IT. Just logged on, and the rollback put the vehicle right back there. This is getting annoying. I don't want to go through this again, there has to be a way to remove this damn thing.

You could try contacting LL and explain the situation and ask them to remove it.

Whew.... a Linden just arrived and kindly and returned it. Took 2 seconds. And no, I didnt get my cash back. Oh well, guess I'll have to sell more things to get it back, no big deal. I wansn't upset about the money, I was more upset that it took a bribe to get said person to finally show up and remove it, and then the person was rude, like I was affecting them. Like it was my fault that they couldn't keep track of their crap they were leaving around.

Supposedly the official procedure is to file an abuse report about objects extending into land one owns, even in cases where there is no evidence of abuse, just evidence of an object where it shouldn't be, such as might be caused by a slip of the finger while editing.
Post the exact coordinates of the problem and I'll go see if it's there and file an abuse report.
I would never pay someone to remove an object they should remove as common courtesy.
Anyone who would take pay for that is not to be trusted. They might well take you money and not remove the object, or if you pay them upon removal, they might put it back to get more money or for the sheer joy of meanness.

Yeah I really wouldn't be surprised to find it back there, out of sheer vengeance of the person to try and dig more gold from me. It was a last resort to offer a bribe to have it moved. I had a similar occurrence and the "live helper" said noone could do anything about it. I had figured any Linden had the power to remove any object, but the helper didn't say anything about that. Oh well. I'm over it.

Time to buy or rent land where you have return rights, I think. For $500L you can rent a lot of land.

This is why you should upgrade to Premium and BUY YOUR OWN LAND -- you can delete/return objects to their owners without having to wait for anyone.

Yeah I owned my own land for a while, just wasn't economically viable. Once I get enough constant income to offset the cost of tier, and the actual land buy, that will happen. Rent is also cheap where I'm at. FREE!

Bad deal you got there, that really blows. There were a few very large garbage objects near my property that I wanted gone recently. I think most of them are now. I think it took a couple of weeks tho. I believe due to a neighbor being gone for a while.
I would urge everyone to avoid paying people to retrieve objects as this is like paying off terrorists.
In an earlier post I asked a question on whether an orbiting tool would work on garbage. I am not sure if I got an answer. Im sure space garbage is not an ideal thought but there are definately a lot less people around for it to annoy.
Maybe there could be some kind of garbage eating space bot created for this purpose.

Yeah if there are some physics enabled garbage around, I usually orbit them.
I wonder though, if an object is hanging between sims/lots, how does one return it? It's technically on multiple lots.

Crossing Sims causes problems for vehiciles and the corner of the 4 sims is a good place to lose your vehicile. Two questions was there anything preventing him from retreiving his vehicile and did he know where the vehicle was located?

Theoretically the person was "out of town" for two whole months. They only started to reply when I offered the bribe. And yes, I messaged said person multiple times with the coordinates.

Let's see, the Lindens can manage to warn/suspend landowners for trees/bushes over a property line and other residents for "scripted prim litter" but can't be bothered to deal with a serious inconvenience like this? Send me the name of the owner of the vehicle, and the SLURL data for the location, please.

*** GOD DAMN IT. Just logged on, and the rollback put the vehicle right back there. This is getting annoying. I don't want to go through this again, there has to be a way to remove this damn thing. I can understand your feeling frustrated and annoyed. You're not going to change this person but maybe you can maintain your own sense of peace by understanding a few things about the situation. You see, the reason this four corner spot seems to collect stray vehicles is because sim crossings have always proved troublesome for vehicles in SL. So the person you're dealing with in this situation inevitably has had their fun interupted and while LL rather than you may be to blame, they aren't around to take it out on. You are and you're the one reminding them of this annoying situation; yea, don't shoot the messenger and all that but that's human nature, isn't it? Further, LL has created tools for items to be returned and the person you are talking to is certainly not responsible for the landowner's account being on hold and may not even understand why you're contacting them about land you don't own. Well, I hope that ranting a bit has let some steam off and put you back into the having fun in SL mode. You really can't do much about it otherwise and letting it get you riled up isn't in your best interest, is it? Change what we can change and let the rest go, eh? Oh, yeah; one more thing. Never offer anyone money and expect them to be shamed into turning down your offer. Not gonna happen. Be glad that you made this mistake in SL rather than RL and learn from it.

In the future if you do have problems like this pop into Live Help. Technically if they refuse to remove it it is an ARable offence however for a lost vehicle unless Live Help insisted I wouldn't bother. (I am a Live Helper btw) Just ask politely if a Linden would be kind enough to remove the wayward vehicle and why you can't and I'm sure they will come and help.

The vehicle is now gone(much thanks to the Linden that helped me), but a similar occurrence happened to me when I was helping a newbie to learn how to build, and he left his couch right in front of my place for a few weeks. I asked live help if there was a way to get someone to move it for me, but the person said that ONLY the landowner can return the objects. Just got conflicting information, thus led to me giving an exasperated bribe to move the damn vehicle of the second person in question. The thing that bothered me the most was the person didn't care one way or another, UNTIL I offered the bribe. Oh well, live and learn, I'm still less than a year old. I'm over it, gotta work on selling more, that's all. Kharma gets people in the end right? This corner seems to accumulate even more garbage because there is an Academy of Second Learning right close to it. One day I logged on to find 3 vehicles stuck in that same corner. The first two people gladly logged on quickly and took them. The last person, created my ordeal. -Cheers!
