Don't Worry. The servers are completely scalable; all your lost stuff must be because of user error. It can only be attributable to human error. ...But Linden Lab executives have a message for worrywarts: Relax.
"It works just like Google, where each (server) is a single, cheap (server) that basically operates and is automatically deployed by our systems and simulates the systems," said Linden Lab CEO Philip Rosedale. It has nothing to do with the failing asset server. This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it. I've lost a bunch of stuff too. Silly me for pressing delete in folders nested three deep in places I haven't looked for years. I don't know why I'd throw away my own work like that.

From: Surreal Farber Being an unnaturally organized Av, I pretty much know what should be in my inventory, and where. So everytime that I go to find something, and it's gone, I get a bit cranky. "Item missing from database" has become a household phrase for me. I lost most of my prim embedded animations recently. Every time I tried to rezz one I got the missing database message. Sometimes I will recall some item I made. or liked. and wonder what happened to it..it's just gone. By the way, how do you manage to keep your inventory down to a manageable 8K? I am truly impressed!

My inventory is a mess.
I have loads of cloths , loads of hair , loads of updated shapes. Loads of skins , adjusted skins.
My shop textures.
It's truly hell.... I have to use the find option or I won't find anything.

I also had an item simply dissapear. I was moving some pose balls around, and they just vanished. I moved my house, turned on beacons, and tried every trick in the book.
Never found the pose, and I haven't felt like spending the L$ to replace it.

Lost some stuff too. I can't believe this issue isn't fixed. They just keep adding stuff to patches - fix this first damn it. I rather have had the disappearing inventory bug fixed first, over adding something new, like flexi prims. Pointless to play and pay, when things just disappear. Building is becoming an issue too. Stuff I know I saved just disappears on me, making the game unplayable. I file the bug reports, have been since last year...

Don't forget... a corrupt cache can make things look like they're missing when they're not.
Here's how to clear your cache...
1. Press ctrl P.
2. In the Network tab, click Clear Cache.
3. Restart SL.
4. Check your Inventory.
