Inventory Rot

Being an unnaturally organized Av, I pretty much know what should be in my inventory, and where. So everytime that I go to find something, and it's gone, I get a bit cranky.

Nope, my memory is fine. I haven't deleted stuff in a wine-sodden stupor. My inventory dates back to 2004 and is just shy of 8K items, so not even the largest one around.

Currently missing, the standard concrete texture we use in Chaos. Luckily I have a partner.

I have about 25k items, so I wouldn't notice if something went missing if it wasn't something I use everyday. I don't think I've experience this (yet, lucky).

over the past few months i've tried to find some random older things i remember making. i keep stuff like that. i'm a packrat. not there though. so far nothing too important, and i can't be 100% sure i didn't delete... but it's happened a few times

I am extremely organized and I've had this happened once or twice. Nothing important, though.

I lost my Magic 8 ball.

My inventory smells like dead fish!, and I can't find my mind anywhere. It took me ages to make it.

i also am extremely well organized, but only have a few things in my inventory. where is my inventory?

I never know what I lost for good and what just doesn't load, since my inventory doesn't want to finish loading.

I just commented to Siggy yesterday that some of my textures were missing.

My inventory is very organized, and all of my textures are labeled the same way so that I instantly know if I have duplicates (a trick I use with my mp3s too) so I know exactly where the textures I was looking for should have been. Not there, not in trash, not in lost and found or misfiled.. just gone. I've noticed at least 5 missing so far, and I only started building and using them again within the last couple days.

I don't think I want to check the rest of my inventory. Maybe if I don't know my stuff is gone I won't miss it.

More than once I've found my packaged retail items go missing. Fortunately I keep multiple copies in separate folders.

I first noticed missing inventory this past December when i was looking for my holiday decorations from the previous year and couldn't find some pieces so this isn't news to me.

My taco truck by IronChef is gone . I loved that thing!! I had it forever and suddenly it was gone .

I always delete things on seeing that they are either created or owned by nobody. That frightens the bejeebers out of me.

Thank you again Torley for seeing that my second Object folder was destroyed. That made me shiver too.

Who needs a scary movie when we can just open our inventory windows aaaaahhhhh!

Yikes... I only have around 7,000 stuff... I better get to trimming before it bites me too!

I lost my animation overrider with a couple thousand Lindens worth of animations in a grid crash not that long ago. I've since replaced them, but yes, that really, really hurt.

I've seen this happen too. Some of my very old inventory has vanished (like my Kex Lemmings) without explanation. What I'd like to know is, if this was a one-off incident, or if new creations have been affected too.

LL need to impose reasonable inventory caps.

No, LL need to make sure our hard earned/bought/given/stolen/whatever items aren't being deleted for no reason

Keep in mind, the actual object isn't stored in your inventory, its stored on the asset server, the item you see in your invo is just a small hexadecimal key to that object. Theres no reason for these to be getting deleted.

I was talking to a friend of mine about this. I have a set of guns I made, left and right hand models. I don't have the righty anymore and I'm positive I didn't delete it.

I've had inventory vanish, pop back up, vanish again, then return with half a dozen other strange items I never had before.

*shrugs*

I had 10 bottle textures, neatly numbered 1-10, two of them are missing.

Ten green bottles?

Hmm so thats whats been happening! I had noticed that a folder in my scripts was labelled correctly and so should of contained something but nada, nothing there! <grumble grumble Gonna have to start keeping outworld backups>

My Player's #1 is missing.

In reality I've noticed a bunch of other things missing from my inventory. Not lately though.

I filed a bug report and wrote on the forums, hoping to get a Liden reply, and see if anyone else had same problems. Didn't know this thread was all about it too It's been going on since the latest update's update's update's... My losses are not terribly expensive: a flexi prim dress and some textures. The dress I got replaced by the creator, and she even threw in a bonus one for the inconvenience!

The first boxed textures I lost, I got also resent by the creator, free of charge, but the worst thing that happened to me, was when I was trying to texture a shelf with another set of textures I bought from the same person. The textuers just disappeared IN THE MIDDLE OF TEXTURING! They were non-copy (of course) and I just haven't got the balls to go beg the creator to send me yet another set of textures I lost, fo free I'll have to buy them again, hoping that this time I can actually keep them too...

Live help just said: empty cache and relog, I told them it wouldn't work, they said just do it. So I did...and it didn't work... I'm really fed up with all these bugs (not being able to edit my builds if they're linked + the rest) And all they say is update your graphics card
On a positive note, at least I haven't been crashing a lot (something I shouldn't have to be relieved of in a well-functioning game/platform/whatever). Pheew. *knocks on her head*
