Banned For Being Dressed!!!

Last week I was banned for being naked in the welcome area.

I was warned previously by a Linden for nudity at Waterhead. Fair enough rules are rules I should abide by them. I therefore designed myself some skin tight and skin coloured clothing. These items of clothing are ever so slightly different to my skin colour and therefore obvious after a more than cursory glance that I am indeed dressed.

I must say under these circumstances I find my ban puzzling. I am actually revealing far less flesh than many other people and could walk through any country in the real world perfectly legally with the exeption of maybe 1990's Afghanstan.

If its legal for me in real life to walk round on a beach in front of children in certain clothes then why is it illegal in sl pg areas. Are the sl pg laws stricter than the rl ones?

If i tattoo my skin with a denim textue can I then enter PG areas nude?

If I tattoo my skin with denim texture and then put on my skin coloured clothes will I then be disciplined?

Why can animals walk round nude? The same rules should apply to all!

I feel strongly that I was banned because I got into a small arguement with a Linden who knew I had the better of him and was unable to answer any of my questions and appeals with any other answer than "Do as I say or else!"

I since appealled to the Abuse Manger and have received no reply whatsoever. Does this mean that there is no adequate appeal system in place?

If so then sl and the people who run it are no better than dictators and the world we all thought was so free and liberating is actually far more restricted than my everyday real life!

I love how anytime someone gets disciplined it's obviously because a Linden had it out for them.

Incidentally, it looks to me like you were banned because, quite simply, you didn't like a rule and were trying to be clever in getting around it. That or there's a lot more to this story than you're telling us.

I have seen things in PG land that are illegal in some parts of the United States so I think there is certainly a double standard. Sell weapons in a virtual world that wreaks havoc but don't wear skimpy clothes that most teens in the RL are wearing anyway.

I realize you're trying to get by on a technicality, but technically speaking it doesn't matter what clothing layer you've put the uncovered skin texture on as all of the clothing and skin layers are baked down into a single texture in the end. If the end result looks like uncovered skin in sections that should be covered up then you are breaking the rules no matter what layer of clothing it started out on.

Also, the Lindens tend to have very low tolerance for rules lawyering so that probably didn't help your case any.

You were warned, and then punished, for doing something.

When you got back, you tried to do the exact same thing, but you tried to thumb your nose at the lindens by making a minor change, so that you could play the amature lawyer game to "defeat" their rules.

Instead, you found out that Lindens *are* the law, not the enforcers *of* the law, and rather than thumbing your nose at them, the lindens bit your nose clean off.

At what point, here, do you think, you might have done something different to avoided this?

Next time, wear clothing and use a skin that moves your rude bits to a different location. I mean, if you're going to play "but technically I'm correct" you might as well do so with a vulva on your forehead and nipples on your shoulders.

I have a sound file called ScanShoot.wav . On occasion I have set it off at sandboxes and been told by Linden employees "No Shooting. etc. etc. etc. and so on"

IF that LL employee took it upon themselves to suspend me for playing a harmless wav that doesn't push anyone ( even though ppl do scatter and duck and it's triggering) they are within thier rights to do so.

Linden laid down the law. Try your best to keep to the letter of the law (so stay dressed) and keep to the SPIRIT of the law (don't go around on technicalities).

Yes, near-skin colored clothing would be considered nudity (spirit of law) because in SL, all our clothes and skin put together are just graphical textures. So putting a nude skin on a a full set of clothing means you're nude in-game.

You were clearly trying it on, and you got what you were asking for.

There are some fun inconsistencies, too!

I DO get warned for being nude as a human or elf in a pg area, with or without genetalia.

I DONT get warned when wearing my Fractalien avatar - despite the fact its naked and has neon nipples.

I DONT get warned for being naked as a furry.

I DONT get warned for being naked as a cyborg.

I DONT get warned for being naked as an alien gray.

Why the inconsistencies, LL? Why do you have it in for fleshies?!

I agree the nudity ban is daft, it's like getting offended at a naked Ken or Barbie on avs that have not been skinned or have genitals attached. The thing is they don't want people running about with a huge penis or a set photo perfect genitals (do genitals come in sets?) but this is too hard to create rules for, so I imagine the easy way to do it is just say no nudity at all in PG areas.

I'm sure you can find yourself a nice mature area to run around naked if it pleases you.

To the OP, I go around with my virtual bits mostly on display. I often wear really see through silk tops and skirts, that leave almost nothing to the imagination. Yet, I haven't been banned, ever....

.... oh yeah, because I dont walk around PG areas dressed like that. On the rare occassions I do find myself in a PG area, I dress and act accordingly. Go common sense.

A good rule of thumb is "If you have to explain to everyone around you that you are not ACTUALLY nude - you are probably pushing it".

I make custom furry skins that include mature bits built into the skin; I'm willing to bet you would get banned using those in a PG area.

I admit my female squirrel does not have any mature bits. but nor did my naked human that I did get warned for. And thats the point. Inconsistency!

At least they are consistent in their inconsistency.

Furries are never naked. We have a layer of fluffy fur at all times.

I have been wanting one of Eddie Eschers (sp?) shiny robot/android skins for awhile now but the only thing holding me back is wondering if I would get sussed for going into a pg area with it on without clothing. They don't show any naughty bits or anything but I wouldn't wear clothing with them because that would just be silly.

Would people/Lindens consider me breaking rules or just having an android av skin on?
