Will the F words be edited? How about the personal attack on LF? Is it all a joke and, if so, is that off topic? I'm so confused by it all that I have to agree with just shutting down the public forums. All we really need is the post only classifieds and the Linden forums which are pretty easily moderated.

OMGXEDTPLON a dozen people might storm off and never come back. So we'd be down to around 29,988 unique customers at that point? There must be some reason they keep these public forums open. I wonder what it is?

My comment to LF was not a personal attack since he is a beggar, as documented in forums. Truth can't be an attack unless you are a candyass that can't handle the truth. Lordfly's comment to Jonas, would be a personal attack. My 2nd comment to LF is probably a personal attack, but after the way he has handled himself in the community and on forums, he needs to just STFU and get a job.

It is not off topic, and not about the res-mod program. Disccssions about the forums themselves were deemed permissible in the General forum, per Jeska. I wrote this thread last night in response to things that were going on in the forums last night. The level of animosity that has arisen lately is destroying whatever semblance of a civil tone was left in these forums. Linden Lab has made no secret that they are tired of it too, and that the <program that shall not be named> was a last ditch effort to intervene and let us clean things up, but the opposite has happened for a variety of reasons. I used to think that the forums were self-correcting, but it seems to finally be on that long predicted downward spiral and if the past few days are any indicator, it's going down fast.

I'm not rich but I'm not sitting on my ass in a video game begging people for money while commenting on all the things I am too good for.

Mine is a slight permutation involving rabid alt-tabbing and repeating phrases that all boil down to, "Yes, I did get that memo and am aware of the importance of our TPS reports"

I'll never understand the "Oh noes, close the forums!" thing. A lot of good discourse happens here still. I'd just like to see less whining and more going with the flow, and a lot less of people being mean just for... well I don't really know why. It's really depressing when people I've generally loved and respected on these boards for ages start smacking people around for no good reason. Prok was way off on the conspiracy theories but he definitely had a point about the level of spiteful behavior (as ironic as that was coming from him!).

I have no problem with off-topic since it's, well, off-topic. It's very easy to ignore the contentious debates there if they don't interest you. General really annoys me lately though. To the point where I read and post in it a hell of a lot less than I used to. All in all it's turning me into a supporter of more aggressive moderation. There's just really no reason for people to be so damn mean to each other... though when people are ranting about the same ol' thing for the 8000th time I can definitely understand the urge to smack them upside the head. I'm trying to resist those urges these days.

The scripting forums are perfectly polite, sensible, productive places, where one can find intelligent discourse and valuable information.

This is because scripters are simply better people than the rest of you.

edited to add: You know, I just tried to put a Slurl in my signiture but it maxed out the number of characters allowed! hehe...can see some tweeking may be needed in that set up.
