From: Anna Bobbysocks As of May 2006, Second Life has approximately 65,000 paying subscribers. The term 'subscriber' implies premium to me. But the quantity leads me to believe that "paid once" basic & lifetimer accounts are being included. (As Tiger said much more logically) Frankly, I don't think it really matters what percentage of the population is online during Lewis hours... or my hours... or what percentage of the online users are premium. And I certainly don't care where Lewis is at 3am in the morning, (but thanks for sharing). What does matter is that these folks have helped support SecondLife financially for more people than just themselves. And some (the premium accouts) continue to support SL. By allowing some to pay more (if they wish)... so that others can play free is part of what makes SL great. It creates an environment in which the philanthropist patrons and starving artists can mingle to each other's advantage. -- A world without some problems and drama would be deary and dull.

From: Lewis Nerd That advertising did NOT bring me here, it was people talking about SL on another game website that made me decide to come along and see what the fuss was all about. Lewis Who were those people? I need names. THEY MUST BE PUNISHED!!!!

From: Lewis Nerd No assumptions whatsoever. I was told to look inworld at 7.30pm game time, which to me is 3.30am, when I will be sleeping. 100% factual (unless it's as hot as last night, when I may not sleep that well and could possibly be awake, but the computer is downstairs and I don't plan to be. Lewis just admit you were wrong, otherwise you look like a complete jackass

Hey guys, FYI, the latest number I used comes from Paul Hemp in the June issue of Harvard Business Review: From: someone Second Life currently has around 65,000 paying subscribers and another 100,000 nonpaying members with fewer in-world privileges, according to Linden Lab, the company that developed and runs that world.
I'm tempted to say this includes everyone who is paying for the game in some regular form, although it could just be premium subscribers. I've asked for Linden to provide some regular data on how many people are paying for the game, so free accounts don't distort the picture. Hopefully we can work something out. It's been said by LL that a large chunk of the new subsribers are foreigners (non-US). As such, I expect a lot of them won't be on when Lewis is on, hence the apparently unchanging numbers.
