Hmmm. So what games do give folks "voice"? Tess Well let's see... Hundreds of games on Xbox Live (as in every game including open chat facilities, both one-to-one and group chat). Dozens of PS2 online games. For the PC, in terms of MMO systems? Auto Assault is the latest. The Second Life "competitor" There supports voice. I'm sure a few others. The biggest change in voice on the PC is yet to come, as Microsoft will be shipping "Live Anywhere" as part of Windows Vista which will allow all Xbox Live functionality under Windows. Coming from the Xbox Live world where I've had voice chat for three years this typing is at best "quaint"... _____________________

What I dislike about SL
08-03-2006 07:15
When I first came to SL I met many people that were nice and helped me along. I made friends and lost friends.. I met really talented people and people that work hard giving us what we need to survive SL(shoes n hair) lol.. To see them griefed now upsets me to no end.
I never use the word hate its too strong a word but i can think of others more suited to griefers.. I dislike the fact that you can be griefed by alts now and if you set your land to keep out unverifieds or newbies you are missing potential customers and friends mixed in the batch of griefers. I keep banning the same person and all his alts and filing reports..but that gets old... usually i can end a post with humor but I guess I am all out ![]() rain |

How about the buttons that cut off the right end of the text (even when set to the smallest size) so that say "Adjust Right" and "Adjust Red" would both only look like "Adjust R"... Tess That is not a UI issue, that is an LSL issue. The buttons in a dialog box are restricted to the amount of characters they can have. This is something a scripter should try and work with. How about instead of "Adjust Right", you try "Adj.right" and instead of "Adjust Red" you use "Adj.Red" just my L$33 or L$34 |

I picked "I Like Everything About Second Life".
I suppose though I would have to admit a particular disdain for the 16M land extortionists/advertisers, as well as land swoopers and other such scammers. But those aren't really Second Life issues per se. There always have been and always will be scumbags in RL or any online world ready to selfishly prey upon the unwary. |

One of my bigger annoyances is trying to drive/pilot any kinds of vehicle and not getting good performance due to lag/border crossings. When I came here, I was disappointed to not see more of this kind of travel.

um, heh heh there is that little incorrect detail And radeon 7000s are just AGP connectors with ram glued to them. YOu should have looked and seen that a 7000 wouldn't run it. _____________________

Thanks to recent changes, the user interface.
Previously, I suppose it was "those" people (specifically, bigots of any stripe), followed by griefers. _____________________

Not on the list but if it was I would vote for the greed factor.
It seems in the past two years people in SL have gotten more greedy thing about things. Rox |

The fact that it's maintained by a bunch of code monkeys and apparently no software engineers.
Software engineers understand the whole development cycle including testing, bug tracking, revision control, customer requirements etc. Code monkeys just like to add "fun" new features instead of ever really finishing anything. Now I realize managing programmers is like herding cats, but I don't think anyone's even trying. Every new version has random stuff added - and existing functionality BROKEN. Do they even do any testing other than the preview grid? Like, y'know, UNIT TESTING? |

The fact that all you can do in SL is looking at things, not play it. I hate that it's just a chatroom with virtually no interactivity/interface at all.

What I don't like is the lag, but I'm working on the client-side of it. I just attribute it to the "nature of the beast" and the near-exponential growth of SL. Blame n00bs like me.
![]() As far as "those people," you forgot Trekkies/Trekkers...like me. ![]() Get a (Second) life! _____________________
