Someone said that the webspinner/cage launcher/>;)/annoying black orbit cage/ THAT #(*&@(*&! GUN

was not going to be affected by these changes as it encloses you in a physical shell (which doesnt require push) and then takes off.

True?

I don't think anything about the gun industry is dead although I've only just entered it. From the little I can find out about other makers sales I can say the market is not all that large but has more dedicated buyers.

Having just entered it and owning products from ALL of the major listed weapons makers, I can honestly say your DE's are the best guns I've seen ^.~

I bet most of your sales are to people looking to cause trouble.

Now that they cannot, they'll go elsewhere.

That will cause the gun shops to go bye bye.

Why do people bother with guns? With all the uber-powergaming superweapons out there, it's like bringing a...well...knife to a gun fight. Who needs a pistol when you could just as easily drop a nuke or summon a meteor? Is it just an image thing?

That's what they get for buying no-mod photorealistic textured animation overriding invisidorks.

Yeah, nothing says 'civilized' and 'personal' like a gun with seeker bullets and shield breaking.

I don't know if that was a dig but shield breaking is considered a compulsory feature by weapon buyers. Seeker bullets aren't so clear cut as good or bad, due to shielding you have to use some amount of sensors to ensure kills and then you have a trade off on sensor distance and angle to get decent detection and good bullet speed without making it too good.

Swords are more personal but in a world where everyone can fly are less effective and give you the problem of bringing a sword to a gun fight.

About 1/3 of the sales were made before it even had push, I don't like push much so I'm happy to see it go regardless.

Actually, I see this as a huge boost to those who design complete (non-push) scripted combat systems.

Those systems are consentual, and fair, and much more like the types of combat systems you will find in other games or MMORPGs. With push disabled in much of SL, the need for well made, fair, and evenly balanced combat systems usable by those who want to do combat will increase, not decrease I feel.

What this does is force the gun industry to stop being lazy and using llpush which was never intended for combat to start with and instead move into making more true combat systems.

Only time will tell in the end, but that is my own view.

I'm not suggesting that people will delete the weapons they currently own, but sales of existing push weapons are likely to drop significantly.

Existing stores don't make any money on guns already in your inventory.

After a long and prosperous run in the past few months, I think its probably safe to assume that the vast majority of the gun industry is dead.

I'd expect shops to begin packing it up and packing it in soon after the new release.

Honestly, I can't say that I feel bad for 'em.

Hasta la Vista!!!

LOL you need to spend time with me then i get shot daily...well i used to now this lil girl is armed giggles...

Push weapons are FREE! Can pick them up anywhere pretty much these days. Open the script and pump the number and BAM!! Super-push weapon. So no one buying weapons was looking for push anyway.

I bought my Seburo's for the look. AR-3's are kewl too as is the Sidhe (sp?) rifle.

Weapons are bought for thier many funtions and looks. The removal of Push might actually increase weapon manufactures sales since thier product does not rely on it in any way, shape or form.

Why would it when the system of Push was free?

That doesn't really work, theres a reason 99% of the SL elevators required people to sit, because if yer standing the elevator will go up, and chances are, you won't, unless it goes up R E A L L Y S L O W L Y

the granularity of 45 passes of physics per second mixed with an av that only has 'foot leverage' of about 8 inches before falling through tends to mean you can only do about 30 feet a second, give or take, of positive force, and even then yer risking a single lagged frame with the object taking off leavin the av behind.. hardly an 'orbiter'

There will always be some dumb way to screw with people who would rather be left alone, but the simplicity of it, and the 'gratification' from it are both decreasing, as people get more and more system tools to defend themselves with.

My fellow Suicide Queens and I vow to keep the SL gun industry alive by ourselves if we have to.

*waves to her favorite gun makers: Ezequal Torgeson, Compulsion Overdrive, Francis Chung, Eata Kitty, Trent Xavier, Zuleica Sartre & Jenny Carlos, and Anisa Naumova*

Mmmmm! New combat sims! :)

Besides with more and more combat systems coming online, you can still enjoy your gun without being an asshole.

The gun industry shouldn't be outright dead.

The griefer segment of the gun market will probably collapse, but that is all for the better since money made from greifers in the is what I'd call Griefer Money since the product is used directly for griefing.

What the gun industry will have is the legitimate market. These are the people who know when and where gun use is appropriate.

I can't cry for the loss of the griefer market because the legitimate market should have been the only customers served in the first place.

why on earth would the gun industry be dead? 1) any griefer using a gun is showing a severe lack of imagination, and 2) by far the majority of gun owners are legitimate, non griefing residents who appreciate the craftsmanship of the weapons and play with them among friends.

So by all means continue gloating, but I think you're entirely wrong.

So what happened did they end the push option? I just paid 700 dollars for a Galil, I had been looking for one as I love Israeli weapons. Would be a shame if they ended it because of the griefers. One thing to note on graal those caught abusing weapons are normally sent to jail, add that with credit card verification and that should fix up griefers easily.

The gun industry is far from dead.

Just ask Tyrant Ludd, who has been selling his Baikal shotgun at 1800L / each like there's no tomorrow.

I've seen a LOT of people with this gun, so, no, the gun industry isn't dead.

So long as we have public combat sims the weapon industry won't die, even during this Restricted Push era.
