When I first decided to (finally) join SL, (after my husband had been here for months already) it was just after having surgery on my spine from a nasty case of herniated disc leading to severe sciatica. Having SL to tool around in when I was having a hard time even standing up in RL, and having not been able to really walk let alone go out and socialize for months, was a huge blessing.

I completely understand where you're coming from. Back pain can be not only painful (hence the 'pain' part) but also very depressing. Having a means to socialize definitely helps you feel less isolated.

I won't second the recommendations of the home-treatments though. Get your doctor to recommend a specialist as soon as possible. Mine waited 6 months, prescribing painkillers and anti-inflammatories in the meantime, and had I not gone over her head and demanded real tests, I'd have probably ended up a drug addict with a bad back. Pain killers don't cure anything. They're a bandaid on a broken leg. (Not to mention that when you have real pain, you don't even get a good buzz from them... bummer.) Find the source of the problem and get that fixed.

and the drugs seem to be working I can at least sleep now for more then an hour at a time and get the much needed rest I need.

witch for muscle spasms is the best remedy
