From: Dianne Mechanique I had a RL picture in for a while (an old one ), and so did my best friend Garnet and I can't recomend it. It completely changes what people think about you and the way they treat you, I find. Everyone in SL is so beautiful, if your RL picture is not, it's a big minus. If (like you ), the RL picture is cute, it seems to just attract loonies and stalkers. Very true. Even without the photo, what you put in the profile beyond the usual can get very strong reactions from folks who you don't know and feel a need to let you hear about it. I was chatting with a relative n00b friend a while back and listening to a litany of stories about loony toons IMing the person. I loved the stories, but the person was a little taken aback by it all and wondering if this was typical. I finally had to mention that the person might want to take the RL picture down. They never put the 2 and 2 together as to why everyone wanted to be the next cyber-pal.

A little bit of myself and what I do in SL, and some RP info which changes often. My picks are fairly limited, it usually has just shows my main Silver Rose store in Caledon, my favorite asian place, and an SL photograph. My First Life profile, contains a RL pic, and a little bit of info about myself (you get stalkers with or without the first life info and photos anyway). My classifieds usually contain my latest products (still working on some bridal wear). Been wanting a business page myself but I'm not sure what exactly I'll be putting there.

Mine has more about my first life than my second life. The SL section has a picture of my avi and the same Bladerunner quote as on my signature, that's it. The first life section has a picture of RL me and a bit of a blurb about who and what I am. It would have my name, but I ran out of word space. In RL, anonymity is not really possible for me in my city, my identity is my living, so I don't really seek it here. My picks are mostly my builds, and of course, my girl. I wish there was a seperate business section, because I'd like space to feature other people's work I admire, or interesting places I've found. I love checking out other people's profiles.

While I am not one of those people who wish to keep SL completely separate from RL, I am perceived differently here, and that's a great thing.

I have a little introduction to what I do, a note telling my customers to contact me if they've got any problems or questions, and a statement that I'm not very social and not looking for romance or sex. I'd considered putting in something asking people to please not hit on me, but that sounded kind of cold, and I want to keep my ice queen tendancies in first life only. (Though, if you're reading this? Please don't hit on me.)
First life profile is essentially empty -- I want to keep a wall of separation up -- and I never remember to update my Picks. In an ideal world, I'd fill them up with interesting places that I've seen; now, though, they're just neglected.
