From: Kris Ritter Yes. No good talking to Zoey thru Zoey's av any more. It belongs to someone else even more infamous now. Which always confuzzled me cuz, like, firstly, you're not allowed to transfer accounts. More correctly I should say THE REST OF US are not allowed to, but I guess it proves that there is a point where you're forking over enough cash to LL that you are above the 'laws' everyone else have to abide by. And secondly, I just don't get why anyone would pay good money for an account with a reputation like Zoeys. Actually, its got nothing to do with that, and anyone can transfer an account with prior consent: From: ToS 3.5 Unique Accounts; No Transfer. When an account is created the address on the account must match the address or other unique identifier on the credit card or other payment or identification method. You may register multiple accounts per credit card or other payment method but will only receive one trial period for the card or other payment method in any 3-month period and each additional account on one credit card or payment method will begin its billing when the account is created. You may not transfer your Account to any third party without the prior written consent of Linden. I've never heard of them not allowing someone to transfer the account as long as the necessary up-front work is completed. This is completely understandable as LL would want to be sure to purge the old person's credit card and RL info and replace it with the new person's. Regards, -Flip

Enlighten me, as I don't fully understand the advantage of taking over someone elses account....wouldn't you want something more personal? It's like moving into a home that is already decorated and furnished in someone elses style.....

I'm not sure if I see what the big deal is. Its the equivalent of selling a business, and if you're a business owner in Second Life, wouldn't you like to have some sort of exit strategy? It might be a good idea to have a section of permanent notes on the profile somewhere. This would allow things like name changes and approved sales to be noted permanently.
Something like:
Linden Notes for account Flipper Peregrine:
* formerly known as "FlipperPA Peregrine" (1/15/2006) * account sold (1/15/2060)
and so forth. Some people decide to move on from Second Life, or reinvent themselves on a new account. I can understand this and think those people should have the option of "selling off" their assets that have been accrued through hard work.
That being said, if you're buying the account - you're buying the business and the reputation. In SL, our businesses are tied directly to our reputations, so the buyer should be aware of both.
Regards,
-Flip

I know it is a foriegn concept to some people but sometimes you have to live with your mistakes... even if you don't want to.

My point wasn't on the legality of whatever - more the 'so who's posting and who's complaining' kind of curiosity...
On the 'usefullness' well some of the older accounts took advantage of that 'lifetime offer' with the 4096 bonus land tier.
Are restrictions on how much US$ you can cash out based on per account?
Bonus - you get all their objects! vendors would send YOU money.
All their customers - after all they don't really know it's not the same person.
On the downside - you get their rep and drama.

Oddly enough the whole reason why I bumped this thread was because I saw a fuzzy postcard on the secondlife website map that said something about Zoey Jade, sale of account, violation of ToS blah blah blah... and came to the forums see if there was clarification. This was one of the more recent posts by Zoey... and while it didn't clarify what I was looking for, I couldn't help but chip in my 2 cents even if it was a stale thread. Of course, I can relate to the unburyable horrors of the past... Thanks to google, there's some stuff out there that may haunt me all my days! Gleep!

I know I'd rather sweep some things under the rug that have come out of MY mouth and I don't think I've really done much bad (except troll-baiting ). But I could be wrong....

I'm not particularly against selling/buying alts, but if one does, they buy the whole package - tarnished reputation and all.
If one doesn't like the dirty laundry that comes with the name, well...dont buy it.

What did the Artist Formerly Known as Zoey Jade sell? I didn't realize she had a business large enough to warrant selling an account.
