Pooley -- Linden stage The Future -- great retrofuturistic builds FairChang Island -- this is the wellspring of the boating subculture Dreams -- community-focused! Green -- cool builds here Borrowdale (isn't that where all the Lindens live?) Taber -- tudor! Chartreuse -- popular shops, and one of my favorite buildings ever, by Nergal Fallingbridge avalon -- first private sim Ahern -- original WA Waterhead -- WA with totem poles Luna -- galleria Amsterdam -- great city build, and a nice representative of adult content in SL Midnight City -- famous shopping destination Serenite -- very pretty, popular sim Caledon -- civilization! N'berg -- politics! Seacliff -- pretty innovations Rodeo -- here's where the first acorn fell, from which the forest spread Cordova -- THE sandbox Abbots -- planes and coffee Hawthorne -- Manhattan Orientation Island -- of course Help Island -- as well City sims -- 4 of these, right? Old suburban sims (Boardman, DeHaro, Brown) New suburban sims (Blumfield, etc.) Zermatt -- need some snow sims! Maybe one of the snow sims with skilift, too. Games Vehicle sims (which one has Busy Ben's?) Jessie/Rausch -- for shootin' Iris (isn't that the location of the Heterocera moth temple?)
And that's enough for now! I'm sure I forgot plenty. Like the Korean welcome sims and the German area by Jauani and Nicola and Dreamland and D'Alliez and . . . this list could go on and on.

Heyo, did anyone mention Tehama yet? Japanese themed sim and home of the Red Dragon market.

From: Rasah Tigereye Hey, don't forget the original sandbox sim. I can't log into SL so can't look up the name, but I'm sure someone can get the name. (Would be funny to buy one of those in Monopoly) actually that was olive, which they later steamrolled and filled with concrete and sold to the highest bidder

Tethys, with its inner toob rapids, bungee jump, and then-incredible mountain heights. SL seemed to start growing a lot faster after Tethys...

From: Rasah Tigereye I meant it in the "this is where the fad/group/culture rappidly expanded out of ~ Yeah Luskwood is definately one that has had a major impact on SL... It brought the furs to SL (Mind you Rasah, the fandom was there ages before Lusk ^.~) But we mustn't forget Furnation Prime (and all the other Furnation sims) .... It drew a lot of furs like me to SL with it's promoting it's sims on their homepage, which is also (one of the) largest furry sites with hundreds of artists. And the Ivory Tower of Prims ^.^

Backstage (and the sim next to it, I don't remember the name anymore) with the giant builds (anyone remember the beautiful winter country inside of the couch? ) and Krittania with heaven&hell are my all time favorite sims in SL. Sadly, both are long gone.

Nowell was the other one. Yes, the giant living room, Heaven, and Hell are in my favorites, too. I don't think I'll ever forget them

From: eltee Statosky actually that was olive, which they later steamrolled and filled with concrete and sold to the highest bidder Yes Olive was the first public sandbox and the first home of Fate Gardens, the place I met Sulumor and Candy Apple, first land I bought directly from another resident, current home of the Steamtree and the Indigo Club, so it's notable in my book.

How about Ambleside? The only region in SL where all the land is owned by different Lindens who have built offices/homes.

From: Troll Dougall ... the old missing Tempest Island... I miss Tempest's island too. She rebuilt it so often there was always something interesting to see. The city sims of Nova Albion are great, especially Miramare : ). It's not just the architecture; we've also got a fun community there. And I take special joy in Isle RFyre because my client wanted gorgeous wilderness, and other team members were contributing artisan-quality work like that white floating city.

From: Kim Anubis avalon -- first private sim No it wasn't... Cayman was first. (At least I think that was it's name... ) From: Kim Anubis Ahern -- original WA Er, nope... it was the second, maybe even third... not sure about the Lime/Plum WA status early on... but there was another before them all... but before my time and I don't remember where. And anyway, for historical sims, what about Da Boom, where it all began?

Thanks for the corrections! My SL memory isn't nearly as long as some. Remember showing me how to get stuff out of a box when I was a newb? From: Siobhan Taylor No it wasn't... Cayman was first. (At least I think that was it's name... )

From: Ananda Sandgrain Did Gray fall off the list? Can I tear the tower down now? Good G'al -- NO! Thanks for piping in. I heartily nominate Gray with it's majestic and persistent Kazenojin Tower.

Avalon was...
06-03-2006 16:10
was the first auctioned island sim, its not a 'private' island. Its still unique in that its a mainland sim, thats an island.
It was also the first sim that was allowed to be named by the buyer.
it was also the sim that set the price point for the 'private islands' - a then scandalous 1200USD. (which went up to 1250USD around a year later).

Gibson: Nexus Prime - Cyberpunk City of the Future Every cyberpunk in the metaverse knows about Gibson and it still sets the standard for cyberpunk builds.
